Engstrom, son of Truman O. Engstrom of Garwood, recently par- ticipated in a community relations project during a visit to Hong Kong, while on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Princeton, home ported in San Diego. Sailors from Engstrom's ship refurbished a local school for handicapped children and a local prayer center. The 1994 graduate of Rice High School joined the Navy in Oct. 1994. •Incase you're looking for Marvin and Beverly Duddleston's welding shop, they've temporarily moved to FredCantu's place on FM1093. Plans are to construct a new building on FM 3013, across from the Boot Camp. Hopefully, it will be ready for them by this summer. f. Friends will be happy to hear that Little Miss LeAnn Dutcher, five- year-olddaughterofMr.& Mrs. Jim- my Dutcher, was able to return to her home last Thursday, Oct. 4, following an accident that occurred Sept. 22nd... Miss Rebecca Rhea Allison be- came the bride of Junior Franklin Click at the United Methodist Church in Austin. The Allisons resided here and in Garwood for a number of years when he was pastor of Eagle Lake and Garwood Methodist Churches... Citizens of the community were invited to a attend a house warming at the Henry & Hazel Williams home. The William's lost their home and personal belongings in a recent fire and citizens joined in contributing items and cash to the family... Citizens in the community will be saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Letha Crenshaw, a longtime resident of this community, due to a heart at- tack on Saturday, Oct. 6. She was born in Altair to Mr. & Mrs. Joe Se- mora... Dan Thornton of Eagle Lake was re-elected to the board of directors of the South Texas Chamber of Com- merce by a vote of the membership present at the 47th meeting in New Braunfels on October 5th. Feb. 22,1951 Among those inducted in the arm- ed forces last week were Arthur Emil Mahalitc and William Clifford All- nut Jr. of Eagle Lake... A Hereford bull consigned by G.M. Cason was one of the two ani- mals bringing the highest sale price at last Friday's Gulf Coast Hereford Breeders Association show and sale in Columbus... Further interest in providing fa- cilities for the storage of rice in Eagle Lake territory is evidenced by a con- tract between a group of farmers and landlords with E.E. Rapsilver and Brookshire for the erection of a 21,000 bbl. rice warehouse on a location ad- joining the Lakeside Elevator and Grain Company rice dryer. Mrs. Botino, who broke the egg at noon Monday, thought at first she'd have an egg with two yolks for lunch, but a second look revealed that there was actually another shell inside the first shell. There was a white without a yolk in the larger shell, but the inside shell contained both. You could say that was a "yolk" on Mrs. Botino... Engstrom of Garwood, recently par- ticipated in a community relations project during a visit to Hong Kong, while on a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Princeton, home ported in San Diego. Sailors from Engstrom's ship refurbished a local school for handicapped children and a local prayer center.
