Hillside is a township in Union County, New Jersey, United States. Located 1 mile east of Union, New Jersey and 3 miles southwest of Newark, New Jersey. The town is located in the Newark metropolitan area. The township is governed by a mayor and a seven-member Township Council. Hillside was incorporated as a township on Aril 3, 1913, from portions of Union Township, based on the results of a referendum held on April 29, 1913.
