Welcome to DSRP Now in its fi fth year of operations, Dripping Springs Ranch Park (formerly Harrison Ranch Park) has experienced a dramatic increase in activity each year of operation. From 2009-2011, days of activities increased from approximately 50 days to 200 days of use. Current activities are producing several thousands of people enjoying the Park since it was added to the City of Dripping Springs’ park system. Organized users groups, including barrel racers, hunter and jumpers, dressage riders, bull riders, rodeos, ranch horse stock shows and others, use the existing arena and parkland throughout the year. The large open spaces of Dripping Springs Ranch Park attract folks for leisurely walks, scout groups for overnight camping, canine enthusiasts, and open fi eld horse riding. The Farmhouse is a popular place for family gatherings, parties and weddings.

Construction of the Event CenterConstruction on the new Event Center at Dripping Springs Ranch Park is under way. The facility will have a 165,000 square foot covered pavil-ion with an indoor arena, warm-up area, concessions, exhibitors hall and a 12,000 square foot meeting room. This space could be used for events such as trade shows, craft fairs, concerts and horse and rodeo events.

The city of Dripping Springs bought the original 64-acre park , formerly called Harrison Ranch Park, for $1.6 million in 2008 through $775,000 in parks bonds from Hays County and matching city money. The city has also received another 25 acre donation and is set to get 19 acres from another donation. Hays County has given $2.9 million to the project through park bond funds in addition to the money to help buy the park. Dripping Springs Water Supply will provide water to the site.

Dripping Springs based Challenger Construction donated $520,000 worth of services for the site. The Lower Colorado River Authority and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department have also awarded grant monies.

The project is still $1.5 million short and the city is seeking donations to complete the amenities at the park. Please call the city at 512-858-4725 for information on contributing.

FundingWith $1.7 million in Hays County-voter ap-proved bond monies and a $500,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife and other individual and corporate donations, the City is well on its way to achieving the needed funds to complete Phase 1 of the master plan. The City and its volunteers continue to seek the remaining funds for the completion of Dripping Springs Ranch Park. If you would like to contribute to the development of the Park please call City Hall at 512-858-4725.

Rental OpportunitiesWhile the Park is open free to the public from dusk to dawn, some structures can be rented for a variety of uses, including community meetings, parties, weddings, family gath-erings, horse riding and more. PLEASURE The pleasure pattern serves to measure the ability of the horse to be functional and a pleasure to ride. The horse should be well-broke, relaxed, quiet, soft of cadence at all gaits and be willing to transition from one western stock horse task to another.

TRAIL The trail class is designed to test the horse’s ability to cope with situations one would encounter while riding. The horse is ridden through a pattern of obstacles which simulates those found during the course of everyday ranch work.

COW WORK A model western stock horse must be a cow horse and the class has been designed to demonstrate and measure the horse’s ability to work a cow.

REINING A reining class measures the ability of the western stock horse to perform many basic handling maneuvers.

Celebrating over 15 years “Helping People Ride a Better Horses”

Dripping Springs Ranch Park is proud to host these 2013 SHOT Events

The Stock Horse of Texas Association (SHOT) was created to promote and support the concept of the versatile stock horse. The strength in this concept lies in the skills developed by horse and rider in four disciplines: Reining, Pleasure, Trail, and Working Cow Horse. An all-around stock horse can handle a variety of situations with ease and athleticism, using a natural movement attitude.

The SHOT program is designed for riders of all experiences to learn and compete in an environment that is friendly, affordable and designed to fi t all levels of riding. Show divisions include Youth, Novice, Limited Non Pro, Junior Horse, Non Pro, and Open. SHOT also offers incentives for collegiate teams and mem-bers. Clinics focus on creating a ‘broke’, functional stock horse that is a pleasure to ride. These clinics pro-mote learning in a relaxed atmosphere that suits both beginner riders and advanced competitors. Premiere horse industry clinicians are regular teachers at clinics – an unmatched value to SHOT members.

SHOT is the oldest versatile stock horse association in the country – a true original that continues to innovate. Join us in promoting the concept of the all-around stock horse.

The Stock Horse of Texas (SHOT) is an association which was started by a state-wide planning group in the mid 1990’s and incorporated in 1998. Its purpose is education for western horse enthusiasts to ride and train a versatile western stock horse that can be ridden on the ranch, in the ring or down the road. SHOT’s goal is to teach rider knowledge and skills to maximize horse train-ability, performance and safety by offering affordable, fun and standardized western stock horse riding clinics and competitions. This special Stand-Alone Central Texas SHOT Clinic is designed to introduce riders to the SHOT program and give them techniques and tips on how to improve their riding and their horses. There will be four dif-ferent clinic components (Stock Horse Trail, Pleasure, Reining, and Working Cow Horse). Participants will work through each of these classes with SHOT Clinicians in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This clinic will feature live cattle, trail obstacles, and review of basic and advanced maneuvers in reining, pleasure, cow work, and trail. Following the clinic, participants can put their skills to work with a fun schooling show that follows SHOT rules and format. No prior SHOT experience is necessary - this clinic and schooling shows are designed to help riders of all levels get their horses more “broke” through direct individual feedback from stock horse experts.

For more information about the SHOT clinics and shows at Dripping Springs Ranch Park, please visit www.dswildwestfest.com.
