MINNESOTA STANDARDS OF EFFECTIVE PRACTICE
FOR TEACHERS
Our modules are outcome-based. We work with subject matter experts and thought leaders to design and develop research-based modules that promote teacher performance and student understanding and achievement. The modules provide the content necessary for the learner to meet the outcomes; (Learnit), an activity that the learner can use to immediately put what he/she learned into practice, (DoIt); a place for learners to collaborate and share about what they’ve learned, their successes and failures and next steps, (ShareIt); and a ProveIt assessment that the learner can take to measure progress and prove that they met the learning outcomes. We provide content that is aligned to state and national teaching standards and continually release modules in the areas of planning, special populations, assessment and evaluation, teaching strategies, learning environment, professional responsibilities, teaching online, technology integration and software and technology support.

HOONUIT INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN APPROACH
Hoonuit has been building online learning experiences for over one million educators,
staff, and students for nearly two decades. Through extensive evaluation of all national,
state and district standards to fully support each individual specification, we are
confident that we provide our partner schools, districts, and education agencies with the
most instructionally sound solution.
We are rooted in learning theory, curriculum, and instruction and have aligned our
content to support effective instruction, student readiness, and community engagement
contributing directly to student achievement. We work closely with our partner schools,
districts, and agencies to identify industry initiatives to position around our learning
outcomes. Hoonuit content is served to learners in bite-sized pieces to ensure
engagement and provide on-the-fly learning to fit within fluid education workflows.
Hoonuit content supports the following national frameworks and standards:
Danielson Framework for Teaching
ISTE Student and Teacher Standards
Marzano’s Instructional Framework
McREL Teacher Evaluation System
Standards for Professional Learning
Hoonuit Professional Learning Solution
24
OUTCOME-BASED LEARNING FRAMEWORK
As professional and student learning practices evolve beyond traditional approaches
and as expectations move to more engaging, active instruction, Hoonuit will continue
providing districts an application-based model allowing learners to put what they learn
into practice.
Hoonuit’s instructional content is designed in engaging, outcome-based learning
modules which follow the Understanding by Design framework. Modules begin with
learning objectives for learners to measure their knowledge against. Each online
module incorporates a multi-dimensional approach, where a learner will watch the
online content entirely, then immediately apply what they have learned by doing an
activity. Learners then share what they have learned and created with the Hoonuit
community to gain insights and feedback and finally test their knowledge through our
post-module assessment.
LearnIt. Learn from Best Practices Online learning on highly-relevant topics that takes learners through multiple, bite-sized videos that can be easily incorporated into the fluid education workflow.
DoIt. Apply Learning to Life Activities to immediately apply learning to life and the classroom. These activities deepen the application of the newly learned concepts. This is crucial for successfully retaining and applying new information.
ShareIt. Connect and Get Feedback Collaborative tools to learn from other participants within the Hoonuit community. We are committed to providing a forum to encourage collaboration and feedback with both subject matter experts and peers.
ProveIt. Demonstrate Learning Assessments and resources to monitor progress. The final, outcome-based measure that is used to report competency is through a post-module assessment. These bring learners through questions that test knowledge on the new topic. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon conclusion.
Hoonuit Professional Learning Solution
25
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS Even the most advanced school districts and education agencies can’t provide the level
of expertise in every possible subject area that all educators and students expect and
require. Hoonuit is dedicated to collaborating with subject matter experts and thought
leaders to design and develop research-based modules that promote teacher
performance and student understanding and achievement.
We strive to seek out and vet the best subject matter expertise in the industry. Our
growing network of contributors allow us to deliver content online, face-to-face, or via a
blended approach.
A sampling of Hoonuit’s subject matter experts:
Dr. Therese Kiley is accomplished in the education space, being a co-author of two books, published over 30 refereed professional papers and has presented and keynoted at over 500 international, national, state and regional conferences. Dr. Kiley has served as a Content Specialist for Hoonuit and we are honored to have her as a part of our community.
Sam Hostetler is an Assistant Principal who has previously worked with Special Education teachers to assist in their curriculum. Sam is passionate about the transformative power of technology and has been such a value to our community, bringing his expertise and creativity.
Ron Farrow is currently a principal of Franklin Elementary in Cape Girardeau, MO and has previously served as the District Instructional Technology Coordinator, where he designed the instructional framework for tech integration at his district. We value everything that Ron has brought to our community.

CONTENT BREADTH AND DEPTH With a library of over 1,700+ modules, our library is the most comprehensive in the
industry. Each module, containing an outcome-based learning framework, is application
based and uses cutting edge technology to deliver online content. Our focus lies both in
the breadth and depth of our content, containing over 100,000 videos in our library that
span across 50+ topics, covering areas such as Social Emotional Learning, Technology
Integration, Instructional Strategies, and PLCs. We are able to sustain and grow our
course library as the industry evolves by tapping into our knowledgeable network, while
also guiding learners with our Pathways. Our media player has the ability to translate
and transcribe all of our videos, and videos that you create, in up to nine different
languages. This not only allows for accessible content to staff, teachers and students,
but also gives users the ability to learn a new language if necessary in career growth.

INTUITIVE USER EXPERIENCE
Through your partnership with Hoonuit, you will be able to leverage the intuitive user
experience and easily configurable solution to create a solution interface that meets
your professional learning specifications. Learners can quickly access their Certificates,
Assigned courses, Reporting, and more from the navigation pane. Clicking on a course
from the home page takes the learner right to the module content. Navigation is
intuitive, efficient, and easy to use with minimal clicks. Navigation within course modules
is intuitive—with minimal need for clicking to access the different parts of the course.
Learners can click on the videos to move through each lesson (either in order or out of
order) or click on the Do It tab to access practice activities, Share It tab to access the
Hoonuit Professional Learning Community, and Prove It tab to take the assessment at
any point. Using the search feature, users can browse through our entire library of
courses—including district specific courses and pathways uploaded to the solution.
While in the search screen, search results can be filtered to further hone in on the
desired results. Along with the general search feature, users can search just Pathways
and limit that search by topics, Pathways that earn credits, and/or are “in progress” by
the user.

MICRO-CREDENTIALS Our pathways will grant the ability for a learner to earn micro-credentials on a specific topic. We will be releasing in early 2019 a developed and sustained way for you to badge your own initiatives, and create your own outlet to deliver, manage and store all of your learners’ micro-credentials. This not only gives learners an extra sense of accomplishment, but it gives them the opportunity to self-promote and position themselves as an expert on a topic.

CONTENT CREATION TOOLKIT
Districts often face obstacles that make it difficult to develop and deliver effective learning to both educators and students aligned to specific district initiatives. Hoonuit has partnered with schools and districts across the country to better understand these challenges and the research that goes into developing a successful program.
Hoonuit will provides a powerful content creation toolkit. This toolkit allows Program Leaders to customize learning to meet the specific needs of the district. Starting from scratch or modifying Hoonuit’s resources, Program Leaders will be able to fully customize courses, assessments and learning pathways – and it will also give you the power to build your own micro-credential programs. This allows for on-demand video encoding, transcriptions and closed captions, including the ability to translate into nine languages and read those languages aloud.
Our superior LTI capabilities play a huge role in the seamless delivery system, integrating into nearly every Learning Management System with single sign-on function.
