Stage 1 Swimming Program Our inaugural and highly successful Stage 1 Swimming Program concluded last Friday. We are thrilled and proud that we had 100% participation across Stage 1. This valuable program supported students to acquire vital skills to survive in water. In addition, they developed a variety of transferable skills including resilience, determination, confidence and team encouragement. We are very grateful to the organising committee led by Mr Fung, Ms Kanakakis and Mrs Arzapitian, the SASS team who have been dedicated to fundraising and to all our community members who have helped this vision to become a transformative reality. Invitation White Ribbon Day Monday 26th November This Saturday is White Ribbon Day and we will mark this occasion with a special assembly at 9am in the school hall on Monday 26th November. White Ribbon Day raises student awareness about respectful, non‐violent relationships and breaks the silence about male violence to women.

All students have been asked to wear a plain white shirt on Monday

Schools Spectacular Schools Spectacular is here! This week our choir and dance ensembles have embarked on an exciting, rigorous rehearsal and performance schedule for the concert. The Schools Spectacular is an outstanding showcase of the talent in NSW public schools. Our students will be performing at Sydney Olympic park on Friday, Saturday and Saturday night. Symphonia Jubilate Symphonia Jubilate is a symphonic orchestra for students from Year 2 to Year 12. It includes students from public primary and high schools across Sydney. This Saturday they hold their end of year concert at Marie Bashir PS, celebrating their 6th birthday. We wish our musicians the very best, we know how hard they work and the level of commitment that is involved in learning a musical instrument. Share the Dignity, It’s in the Bag Campaign Last week Strathfield Council launched the ‘Share the Dignity, It's in the bag campaign’ a campaign that aims to assist women and young girls experiencing homelessness and poverty. If you would like to help out please bring in some personal hygiene items for donation to the front office by Monday morning. Award Night Dear Parents/Carers, Our Homebush West PS Award Night is coming up in Week 8. This is a very special event in our school calendar that celebrates the achievements of our students in 2018. A permission note has been sent home this week with more details. Date: Tuesday 4th December Time: 6:30pm-approx 8:30pm Venue: Marie Bashir Public School Hall Colour Run Update Year 6 would like to again thank all the students, parents and community members involved in help-ing us fundraise for our 2018 Colour Explosion Run. Thanks to your efforts, we were able to raise $11,000, which, after company fees, will be approximately $7000 towards our Year 6 Gift, Farewell and Graduation. We would also like to take this time to honour our highest fundraiser for this year, Michael K (65C), who was able to raise a whopping $1502 and earned himself an HP Laptop Prize! Congratulations to Michael and all our fundraisers for their efforts. All students should have received their gifts by now, but if they have not, follow-up orders will be supplied in the next two weeks. The players have developed so many skills such as sportsmanship, dedica-tion, optimism and time management. Stage 3 Incursion – Drama Tool Box This Term in Stage 3, students have been learning about Factors that Shape Places in Geography and Living things in Science. From these learning experiences students have been making an E-Book on informing audiences on how to build a sustainable future. An incursion has been organised for “The Australian Drama Toolbox” to come to HWPS and perform interactive dramatisations, on sustainable futures. Star Factor is almost here! The dates for Star Factor have changed. It will now be held in week 10, Monday 17th (9:30am-12:00pm) and Tuesday 18th December (11:30am-2/2:30pm). Costumes: If you are successful in making it through you will need a costume. You do not have to spend a lot of money. Be creative and clever and find some old stuff you can recycle. 六年级的学生想在这再一次感谢所有学生，家长和社区人士赞助我们的“彩色长跑”

筹款活动。我们筹到了$11,000，除去了有关费用，我们有七千多块可以用来赞助六年

级的毕业典礼，欢送晚宴以及毕业礼物。.

65C 班的 Michael Knight 是这次筹款最多的学生，他一个人就筹得$1502，也获得了我

们的筹款最高的奖项，一台手提电脑。

到目前为止，所有的学生基本已经收到他们的奖品了，要是没收到，下两周我们订的

产品也会到了。期待下一年更大规模的“彩色长跑” Stage 3 Incursion – Drama Tool Box
