FEAST OF FAITH What Jesus Did, What Jesus Said The oldest account of what happened at the Last Supper comes to us not from the Gospels but from the First Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians: “I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me’ ” (11:23–24). In our celebrations of the Eucharist, we are obedient to Christ’s command to “do this.” The priest, acting in the person of Christ, does what Jesus did and says what Jesus said. He takes bread, gives thanks, breaks it, and gives it to the Lord’s disciples. He takes wine, gives thanks, shares it with us. We believe that the entire Eucharistic Prayer is consecratory, but we continue to hold these words of Jesus in special reverence. They are called the words of consecration, and the elevations of the host and chalice, the genuflections of the priest, and the optional ringing of a bell and use of incense remind us that we are in the presence of the Lord. Amen

COMMUNITY PRAYER and PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

Our introduction to faith and prayer begins in the community of our home. This is why it is so important to make “family prayer” a priority as it is essential for our spiritual growth and personal well-being. The Mass, the Liturgy, is the ultimate “community prayer”. This is one

reason why attending Mass is vital to our faith. Liturgical prayer is a public prayer following prescribed ritual intended to unite individuals with God through Christ. We are renewed each week in community

prayer by attending and participating in the Mass. Being a part of a faith community serves as a support system for us. Community strengthens

and unites us in our faith, which is why the Mass Intentions and Prayers of the Faithful are powerful at Mass, as it brings us closer

to God through each other.

The communion of saints and angels are also a part of our community of prayer. Saints and angels can pray on our behalf, with us, and for us. We

can and should ask them to intercede for us and for the whole world.” St. Augustine says, “For he who sings praise, does not only praise, but also praises joyfully; he who sings praise, not only sings, but also loves Him

who he is singing about and for”.

ORACIÓN COMUNITARIA y ORACIONES DE LOS FIELES

When we face the death of a loved one, to have a Mass offered for the repose of his or her soul, and to offer our prayers, is more beneficial and comforting than any sympathy card or bouquet of flowers. One must never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s soul.

INCENSE SMOKE SYMBOLICALLY PURIFIES ALL THAT IT TOUCHES.

The offering of incense is like Mary’s anointing of Jesus at Bethany. It is as free and objectless as beauty. It burns and is consumed like love that lasts through death. And the arid soul still takes his stand

and asks the same question: What is the good of it? It is the offering of a sweet savor which Scripture itself tells us is the prayers of the Saints. Incense is the symbol of prayer. Like pure prayer it has in view no object of its own; it asks nothing for itself. It rises like the

Gloria at the end of a psalm in adoration and thanksgiving to God for his great glory.

es el símbolo de la oración. Como el rezo puro no tiene en la visión ningún objeto sus el propios;

Holy Communion Our Life in Christ The Sacrament of Holy Communion is the third of the

Sacraments of Initiation. Even though we are required to receive Communion at least once per year (our Easter Duty), and the Church urges us to receive Communion

frequently (even daily, if possible), it is called a sacrament of initiation because, like Baptism and

Confirmation, it brings us into the fullness of our life in Christ. In Holy Communion, we are eating the

True Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, without which "you shall not have life in you.” (John 6:53)

Eucharistic Adoration Helps Build a Community of Love. “Love one another as I have Loved you”

The Eucharist is the Sacrament of unity, Jesus unifying His people. Through the personal love that one shares with the Savior, one is

more able to grasp the reality that we are the whole Body of Christ. Prayers as a community, especially intercessory prayers for the

needs of the community and the World -help to build a "civilization of love" -to "transform the World". The prayers that we say can

draw the World and everybody in the World closer to Christ and to God the Father for His blessing.

“What has the Cross given to those who have gazed upon it and to those who have touched it? What has the Cross left in each one of us? You see, it gives us a treasure that no one else can give: the certainty of the faithful love

which God has for us.” –

THE SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION

Confession is one of the least understood of the sacraments of the Catholic Church. In

reconciling us to God, it is a great source of grace, and Catholics are encouraged to take

advantage of it often. But it is also the subject of many common misunderstandings, both among non-Catholics and among Catholics themselves.

menudo. Pero también es objeto de muchos

malentendidos comunes, tanto entre los no católi-

cos como entre los propios católicos.
