THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD AUGUST 6, 2017

Living God’s Word “And he was transfigured

before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.” - MATTHEW 17:2 Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun, we should reflect Christ’s light to the world. When we receive the Eucharist, the body and blood of Jesus, we are called to be supernatural to reflect His love, mercy and for-giveness to others. When we are grateful for all that God has given us, generosity flows through us because we are made in God’s image.

Dear Parishioners,

Baby, It’s You! – Last year, we bap zed 85 infants here at Holy Infant. If you are an cipa ng a new child in your household please consider the follow-ing: A prepara on class is necessary if this is your first child, you have not a ended a class at Holy In-fant, or it has been three years since your last class. Please call our Parish Office to register for this class. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about raising your child in the Catholic faith as well as ge ng to know be er your parish family and how you can get involved. This class can take place before delivery.

Don’t delay bap sm! It’s preferable that an infant’s ini a on into the Church take place soon a er his/ her birth or adop on. Between three and six weeks is a good measure. It’s understandable that family traveling for the bap sm can be a factor, so plan ahead when considering the date. Contact the rec-tory, and we can line this up for you. We are blessed to have many bap sms here at Holy Infant, but your baby is more than a sta s c. We want him/her to have the full a en on of our service in helping your faith as a family grow rich and strong.

God’s blessings for a great week!

What is a Stephen Minister like? They are among us. No, we’re not talking about angels or aliens. We’re talking about individuals who care about others. The Scriptures describe their service well: “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering”. (Hebrews 13:3). If you or someone you know wants to do more as a Chris an caregiver, consid-

er Stephen Ministry. A training class will be forming in October. To learn more, a end an “info night” on September 14th, 7 p.m. in the Upper Cafeteria. Ques ons? Contact Gene at (636) 527-5385.

2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the appari on of the Blessed Virgin Mary to 3 shepherd children in Fa ma, Portugal. Mary, Mother of God, appeared to the chil-dren six mes, every 13th of the month, May - October 1917. Hovering above the holm oak at the Cova on July 13, 1917, Our Lady of Fa ma told the three children, "Con nue to pray the Rosary every day in honor of the Lady of the Rosary to obtain the end of the war and peace for the

world, for only she alone can save it." Holy Infant’s Legion of Mary is helping you to celebrate, help the world, and gain in-dulgences to help souls. Pope Francis has granted a plenary indulgence to “the pious faithful who visit with devo on a statue of Our La-dy of Fa ma solemnly exposed for public venera on in any church, oratory or proper place during the days of the anni-versary of the appari ons, the 13th of each month from May to October ( the 2017 “venera on days”), and there devoutly par cipate in some celebra on or prayer in honor of the Vir-gin Mary.” For the plenary indulgence, one also goes to con-fession within 3 weeks, and on the venera on day, pray for the Pope and go to Communion. Our fourth opportunity will be Sunday, August 13th in the Holy Infant Eucharis c Adora on Chapel. A statue of our Lady of Fa ma will be enthroned for venera on that day. Right now, you can: * Mark your calendar with all the Fa ma “venera on days”, especially the next one, August 13th * Go to h p://www.ewtn.com/library/ANSWERS/PRIMINDU.HTM to read more about indulgences. * Pick up a free rosary and literature in the ves bule.

Please join us beginning in September for the 2017-18 season of Holy Infant's Book Club! Everyone that enjoys reading and follow up discussion of great books is encouraged to join us. We meet once a month to discuss that month's book, and then we move on to the next great selec on the following month. Some love the books, some don't. That's what makes for a great discussion. We meet as friends, respect other's opinions, and are exposed to some great authors throughout the year. We usually meet on the third Thursday of the month at 1:00 in the Holy Infant Room. If you have any ques-

ons, please call Ann Banker at (636) 399-6627.
