Transform Hoku Amphitheater into a volcanic experience – with steam vents and fiery lighting – for a spectacular lu-'au celebration. Flaming cauldrons greet guests as they enter. They’re welcomed by hosts in traditional Hawaiian outfits and directed to a lei stand to choose the type of lei they would like to wear. Artisans re-enact activities from a Hawaiian village, such as poi pounding, lauhala weavers, and preparing food in an ‘imu – an underground oven. The menu can include a roasted whole pig, cooked in ancient style. The evening ends with an unforgettable fire knife dance to the rumble of Polynesian drums.

KAI NALU BEACH BASH

A throwback to the beach movies of old, this retro barefoot event at Kumukea Beach is complete with tiki bars, wooden surf boards, and rustic beach sign showing the direction and distances to other Four Seasons locations. The Kai Nalu – ocean wave – menu features favorites from our Kiawe wood grill, such as short ribs with lilikoi barbecue sauce and grilled fresh island sweet corn. Favorite local beers from the Kona Brewing Company are on draft, including Long Board Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale. Just steps from the lobby, the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Huala- lai Golf Course plays host to an annual Champions Tour event and is always maintained at PGA level. With 7,115 yards, this par-72 course features brilliant green fairways contoured against black lava and blue Pacific waves.

REFORESTATION INITIATIVE

Four Seasons Resort Huala- lai has partnered with Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative (HLRI) in planting up to 500,000 “legacy” Koa trees to help rebuild in the native Hawaiian forest. Your group can visit the on-property nursery during their stay to meet with an HLRI representative to learn about program and plant their seedlings. Guests will receive a certificate with a unique code, allowing them to follow their tree via GPS signal, once it is planted in the forest.

SAVING THE HAWAIIAN MONK SEAL

We are proud to support The Marine Mammal Center’s Hawaiian Monk Seal Hospital, Ke Kai Ola – a state-of-the-art rehabilitation, research and education program dedicated to promoting Hawaiian monk seal population recovery and inspiring the local community to protect, care for and ensure the future of this critically endangered species.

MARINE STEWARDSHIP

The responsibility to act as stewards of our natural resources is taken to heart here at Huala- lai. In addition to maintaining eight ponds and our shoreline, the Marine Biologists of our Natural Resources team have developed educational tours and programs for guests of all ages, highlighting the sensitivity of our ecosystem and the marine bird life affected.

CONSERVATION AND RECYCLING

These simple enhancements contribute greatly to our efforts to do the right thing for the environment.

• Refillable bathroom amenity dispensers are used in place of individual plastic bottles, reducing plastic waste by more than 100,000 bottles per year.

• Ceramic carafes and cups are refilled daily by our staff with purified water, taking the place of plastic water bottles and reducing plastic waste by more than 90,000 bottles per year.

• Purified water stations are available in laundry rooms throughout the Resort.

• As part of our Green Linen Program, bed linens are changed every three days, significantly reducing water consumption by more than 700,000 gallons (over 2.6 million liters) of water annually, in addition to reducing energy.
