OverviewIntroductionThe TS690 range of alarm control systems havebeen designed to suit small to medium installationsites. The TS690 system can monitor 6 zones locallyand up to 8 zones via remote keypads or LECs. Allzones can be wired either as double pole or endof line. The TS690ID system can monitor up to 30zones via ID biscuits and 8 conventional zones viaremote keypads or LECs.

Both systems feature local “downloading" via aDCI link and PC, or remote “downloading” via aplug-on digi-modem (DC6) and PC.

Control PanelThe control panel is the controlling unit for thesystem, it has a power supply and connections fora standby battery. It has the following facilities:

6 programmable detection circuits (TS690only)

Detector loop for connecting up to 30programmable ID biscuits (TS690ID only)

Bell and strobe outputs

3 programmable outputs (1 x Voltage freecontacts and 2 high current transistorised)

5 programmable digicom/RedCARE outputs

A connector for a plug-on digi-Modem (DC6)

Extension loudspeaker output

All system program information and the 700event log is stored in a removable non-volatilememory (NVM)

15 user codes + engineer's code

Remote KeypadsUp to 4 remote keypads can be connected to thecontrol panel. Each remote keypad has twodetection circuits and a single switched -veoutput. All remote keypads have “Power LED” anda programmable “Function LED” (the “FunctionLED” may be programmed as “Fault” or “Area Set”etc.). There are four types of remote keypads thatcan be used:

32 Character LCD (NETLCD)The NETLCD remote keypad has a backlit 32character super-twist Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)and a backlit tactile rubber keypad. When usingthe LCD Keypads the text for user codes, partsetting modes and circuit identification can beprogrammed to make the operation andprogramming of the system easier.

8 Character Starburst (NETSTAR)The NETSTAR remote keypad has a backlit 8character starburst display (LCD) and a backlittactile rubber keypad.

4 Character LED (NETLED)The NETLED remote keypad has a 4 character LEDdisplay and backlit tactile rubber keypad. Whenusing the LED remote keypads, text cannot beprogrammed but all other system functions areavailable.

Remote Arming Station (NETARM)The NETARM remote arming keypad does nothave a display and can only be used for setting,part setting and unsetting of the system.

Proximity Reader (TSNETPROX)You can fit a TSNETPROX proximity reader to theNETLCD, NETARM and NETLED keypads to allowusers to set and unset the system using a proximitytag.

TS700 LECThe Local Expansion Card (LEC) provides twoprogrammable detection circuits and oneprogrammable output.

System InstallationCable RoutingWhen installing cables, the following should benoted:

Ensure that all Network and detectioncircuit cables are kept clear of mainssupply cables, telephone cables, R.F.cables and cables supplying bells orsounders.

Screened cable may prove necessary ifthe Network or ID loop is run adjacent tocables that produce R.F. or are switchinghigh current loads, e.g., mains, telephone,computer etc.

Mains power supply cables to the systemmust be connected to an un-switchedfused spur that cannot be accidentallyswitched off. The mains cable must enterthe housing via its own cable entry point.

In larger installations it may provenecessary to fit remote power supplies toovercome excessive voltage drops in thecable runs.

Remote/LEC Network WiringThe Remote Network connections are used forconnecting either remote keypads or LECs. Eachdevice has 5 connection terminals and thereforea 6 core cable is required for interconnection. It isrecommended that the spare core is doubled upwith the [B] connection as this will help reducevoltage drop on long cable runs.

Devices can be individually connected back tothe control panel (star connection) or loopedtogether (daisy-chain connection). Which evermethod of connection is used the distance to thefurthest device from the control panel must notexceed 100 metres.

Power for detectors are provided by the [A] and [B]terminals (see figure 2).

ID Loop Wiring (TS690ID Only)Each ID device is connected across a two-wire IDloop. Apart from observing the correct polarity,any wiring configuration can be used, as shown inthe figure below.

Cabling RequirementsThe ID loop can be wired using standard 4 corecable, this allows 2 cores to be used for the IDdevices and 2 cores for supplying 12V power forPIR's etc.

The number of devices permitted per cable run isgoverned by the resistance of the cable used.Standard 4 core alarm cable (7/0.2mm) has aresistance of approximately 8 Ohms per 100metres and as a guide the maximum number ofdevices that can be connected at the END of asingle cable run is as follows:

If a different type of cable is used, the distancesshould be recalculated. e.g., if 7/0.4mm cable isused, a single run of 80 metres would support 30devices on the end as the resistance of the cableis halved.

When installing the ID loop wiring It is usually morepractical to run several cables from the controlpanel to the different areas of protection. Thiseffectively reduces any distance problems andmakes fault finding much easier.

To reduce the likelihood of induced interferenceand wherever possible, cables should not bepositioned along side mains power, telephone orother data transmission cables, or run within thesame ducting or trunking as any other cables.

The wiring for remote keypads and internalsounders ( loudspeakers ) should not beconnected in the same multi-core as the ID loop.

Included in the spares pack is a 47nFcapacitor. Although not necessary forcorrect operation of the system, it willimprove the system noise immunity ifconnected across the ID loop at one of thedevices furthest from the control panel.

Control Panel InstallationProceed as follows:

1. Open the control panel by removing twoscrews from the front cover. Remove the coverand disconnect the earth bonding cable fromthe spade connection near the transformer.

2. Note the position of the cable entries asfollows:

(a) Ten 20mm cable entries for detection,alarm and remote keypad cables.

(b) A 20mm cable entry for mains (240V)below the mains input terminal block.

The mains cable must enter the controlpanel through its own cable entry andmust not be mixed with other cables.

3. Hold the control panel back box in therequired position and mark the centre of themiddle fixing position. Remove the back box,drill and plug the hole.

4. Screw a No 10 screw into the plugged hole.Reposition the back box and mark theremaining two securing holes. Remove theback box, drill and plug the holes.

5. Reposition the back box and pass all cablesinto the base via the appropriate cable entries,remember ing to f i t grommets wherenecessary.

6. Secure the back box using not less than 30mmx No 10 screws through the three securingholes.

7. If required install and connect the following:

(a) Stand alone digicom or RedCARE STU.

(b) Printer type DATAC or serial RS232 via aprinter adapter (MPA/DCI).

(c) Relay module type RM.3A.

When replacing the cover, alwaysensure that the earth bonding lead isconnected to the spade connection onthe transformer.

Connection Terminals & IndicatorsConnection terminals on the TS690 / TS690ID aredescribed as ether “Safety Extra-Low Voltage”(SELV) circuits or “Telecommunication NetworkVoltages” (TNV) circuits. Figure 5 shows the twotypes of circuits.

JP1 PRINTERThis 6-pin plug is used for connecting toeither a CPA6.P printer or a standard RS232printer via the MPA/DCI printer adapter.

JP2 ENGINEERS REMOTEAn Engineers remote keypad may betemporarily connected to this 6-pin plug toallow programming and testing to becarried out at the control panel.

JP3 DIGI-MODEMThe DCI lead connects to this plug whenusing the Lineload software via a P.C. fordirect communication with the controlpanel. A DC54, DC58 or DC58M can alsobe connected to this plug if the DC6 is NOTbeing used.

JP4 PLUG ON DIGI MODEM (DC6)The plug-on digi-modem plugs directly ontothese pins. The DC6 is a 8 channel digitalcommunicator and V21 modem. The DC6is required when using the downloadingfeature. The TS690M and TS690IDM aresupplied with the DC6 already pre-fitted.

JP5 FACTORY RESETIf these pins are shorted during power-up allsystem parameters are reset to their factorydefault settings. If the engineer’s passcodeis lost or forgotten it can be reset to 1234without losing any other program data. Theprocedure for resetting the engineer’spasscode is described on page 51.

VR2 SPEAKER VOLUMEWhen an extens ion loudspeaker isconnected to the control panel terminalsthe volume of the advisory tones may beadjusted using this control.

Alarm tones are always at full volume.

U3 NVMA removable nonvolatile memory (NVM)device that stores all system programparameters and the 700 log events.

LED1 BATT FAULTI f the system battery is incor rect lyconnected to the control panel or thebattery voltage is below 4 Volts, then the“BATT FAULT” LED will light. The fault LED willonly extinguish when the battery has beencorrectly connected or replaced, asappropriate.

LED2 POWER ONThis LED indicates that the system power(mains or battery) is healthy.

V SYSTEM CURRENT CONSUMPTIONThe system current consumption may becalculated by measuring the Voltageacross this test point on the main PCB. Usinga Voltmeter set to a low Voltage rangemeasure the Voltage across the test pointand multiply the reading by 10 to give theTotal system current consumption i.e., areading of 70mV = 700mA.

FS1 BELLThis 1 Amp fuse protects the supply to theexternal sounder/bell. The fuse is in-line withthe [H/O+] terminal connection.

FS2 AUXILIARYThis 1 Amp fuse protects the auxiliary supplyoutput. The fuse is in-line with the [AUX. 12V]terminal connections.

FS3 REMOTE KEYPADThis 1 Amp fuse protects the supply to theremote network. The fuse is in-line with the [A]terminal connection.

ID LOOP (TS690ID Only)These two terminals are used for connectingID devices.

The ID Loop has electronic short circuitprotection, therefore no fuse is fitted toprotect it. In the event that the ID Loopis shorted the system will indicate ashort circuit condition and will revert tonormal when the short is removed.

Mains ConnectionThe mains supply is connected to a 3 way “EuroType” fused terminal block, which is fitted with a315mA fuse. All electrical connections should becarried out by a qualified electrician and mustcomply with the current IEE regulations.

To comply with European regulations thesupply should be fed from a readilyaccessible disconnect device, e.g.un-switched fused spur fitted.

When making mains connections it shouldbe ensured that if the cable slips in such away as to place a strain on the conductors,the protective earthing conductor will bethe last to take the strain.

Battery ConnectionA 7Ah battery must be fitted to the system to allowit to function during a mains fail condition. TheTS690 & TS690ID is equipped with a “BatteryProtection” circuit so that if a battery is accidentallyreverse connected or its voltage is below 4V, the“BATT FAULT” LED lights. To clear the fault simplyreconnect or replace the battery as appropriate.

Remote KeypadsFour types of remote keypads can be used on thesystem, however, only the NETLCD remote keypadcan be used for programming text information.Any combination of remote keypad can be usedon the same system, if desired.

NETLCD Remote KeypadThe NETLCD remote keypad has a 32 characterbacklit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)

NETSTAR Remote KeypadThe NETSTAR remote keypad has a 8 characterbacklit Starburst Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).

NETLED Remote KeypadThe NETLED remote keypad has a 4 character LEDdisplay.

NETARM Remote Arming StationThe NETARM remote arming station does not havea display, therefore it is designed to only be usedwhere setting, part setting and unsetting of thesystem is required.

PCB Layouts & Connections1 Detection Circuits.

Each remote keypad has twoprogrammable detection circuits.

2 Loudspeaker Volume.For adjusting the volume of a speaker wiredto the remote keypad (NETLCD only).

3 LED Mimic.If this jumper link is set to the “enabled”position, the red () LED on the keypad willbe “ON” when the keypad output is active.

4 Remote I/D.Used to select the remote keypads address.(ENG = Engineer).

5 Ward Sounder Control.This facility is not available for TS690 andTS690ID systems.

6 Keys 1 and 3 PA EnableLeave this link intact to enable PA alarm onkeys 1 and 3. When a user presses 1 and 3together the control panel sounds a PAalarm. Cutting the link ensures that when auser presses keys 1 and 3, the control panelreports an alarm from zone A on the keypad.The alarm type will depend on how the zonetype is programmed in the control panel.

7 Loudspeaker Output.This terminal can be connected to a single16 Ohm Loudspeaker (NETLCD only).

Installation Procedure.

Always ensure that all power (mains andbattery) is removed before making anyconnections to the remote keypad.

1. Separate the cover and base by using ascrewdriver to push 2 of the clips (top orbottom) inward from the base indents, then liftthe cover assembly, noting that the PCB is fixedto the under side of the cover.

2. Hold the base in position (keyhole to the top)and mark the three securing holes, drill andplug the wall as required. Pass all the cablesinto the base via the cable entry points asappropriate and secure the base to the wall.

3. Connect “Remote Network” and detectioncircuit cables to the appropriate terminals.

4. Set the I/D selector jumper link to the requiredposition:

5. Set the “ENT KEY DISABLE” jumper link to therequired position.

6. Set the “WARD SOUNDER CONTROL” jumper linkto the required position.

7. Finally clip the remote keypad cover onto thebase being careful not to trap any cables or toobstruct the tamper switch.

Keypad Loudspeaker ConnectionsA single 16 Ohm loudspeaker may be wired to thekeypad if required. This loudspeaker will follow theexisting keypad sounder and its volume level can

be adjusted by the speaker volume pot (VR1).

The speaker output and volume pot areonly available on the NETLCD keypad.

Engineer’s KeypadNormally all system programming will be carriedout from one of the installed remote keypads,however sometimes it may be more convenientto program the system at the control panel. Thiscan be achieved by using an “Engineers Keypad”which is temporarily plugged on to the controlpanel (JP2). To convert a standard remote keypadto an “Engineers Keypad” an Engineer’s interfacelead is required which can be obtained from yoursupplier (P/No. NETEKI).

TS700 LEC InstallationThe TS700 LEC (Local Expansion Card) isconnected to the “Remote Network” and providestwo additional programmable detection circuitsand a programmable output. The “RemoteNetwork” may have up to three LECs connected,as the system will always require at least oneremote keypad.

Always ensure that all power (mains andbattery) is removed before making anyconnections to the LEC..

1. Remove the cover from the base and carefullyremove the PCB.

2. If the LEC is being fitted inside the control panelyou may remove the LEC PCB from its baseand secure it to base of the control panel usingself adhesive feet. If required, the tamperswitch may also be disabled by fitting thejumper link across JP2, see Figure 10.

3. If the LEC is being fitted outside the controlpanel, hold the base in position and mark thetwo securing holes. Drill and plug the wall, thenpass all cables into the base via the cableentry points. Secure the base to the wall usingthe appropriate fixing screws.

Wiring Detection CircuitsAll detection circuits may be wired as “End Of Line”(EOL) or “Double Pole” (DP). Both methods can beused on the same equipment.

Double PoleThe DP method requires the following:

The detector alarm and tamper contacts areconnected to the zone and tamper terminalsrespectively.

The combined alarm and tamper loopresistance must be less than 100 Ohms.

The maximum number of detection devicesallowed in a circuit is ten.

Normally open devices such as pressure padsand exit terminator buttons are connectedbetween the zone and tamper terminals.

If the detection circuit is not used links can befitted across the zone and tamper loops orprogrammed as Not Used.

End Of LineThe EOL method requires the following:

The detector alarm contacts must have a 4K7shunt resistor fitted.

A 2K2 End of Line (EOL) resistor must be fitted atthe point in the circuit furthest from the controlpanel.

Loop resistance with the EOL resistor shortedmust be less than 100 Ohms.

Wiring ID BiscuitsEach ID biscuit is identified by its own number, 01to 30 and contains its own internal sensor which iscontinuously monitored by the two-wire ID Loop.The figure below shows the basic connections tothe biscuit using a tamper and alarm contacts.

When the tamper switch is opened, the ID biscuitbecomes off line and a tamper alarm isgenerated by the control panel. If the alarmcontacts are opened the biscuit's internal sensorchanges state and the control panel will see this asan active condit ion and wil l respond asappropriate.

External Sounder ConnectionsThe following terminals have been provided toallow connections to an external sounder:

H/O - This is used to provide a permanent -vehold off to external sounders, strobes etc.

H/O + This is used to provide a permanent +vehold off to external sounders, strobes etc.It is protected by a 1 Amp fuse (Bell 12V).

TR - This is the negative tamper returnconnection from the siren or bell.

STB - This is the strobe output which will switch to0V on alarm and is rated at 500mA.Connect the other side of the strobe to theH/O +.

TRG - This is the bell trigger output which can beprogrammed for SAB or SCB operation, asfollows:SAB: TRG - will switch to 0V on alarm andwill provide a maximum of 500mA.SCB: TRG - will provide a negative holdoff (500mA), which is removed on alarm.

Auxiliary TamperThese two terminals provide tamper protection toauxil iary devices such as power supplies,extension loudspeakers etc. If they are not usedthey must be linked out.

Extension LoudspeakersUp to two extension loudspeakers can beconnected across the [SPK+] and [H/O-] terminalson the control panel PCB. The volume for theloudspeaker is controlled by VR1 “SpeakerVolume”.

Digicom/RedCARE InstallationA stand alone digital communicator, RedCARESTU or Paknet interface card can be connected tothe control panel using the following connections:

Digicom Outputs 1 to 5These are the programmable digicom outputconnections. They are normally at +12V andswitch to 0V when active. The outputs can beinverted so that they switch from 0V to +12V whenactive, see System Configuration on page 34.Each output will source 5mA in the +12V conditionand sink 100mA in the 0V condition.

+DC POWERThis provides the +12V power to the digicom. Thisoutput is un-fused and therefore should only beused if the digicom is fitted inside the controlpanel. The 0V supply for the digicom/STU can bepicked up from any of the auxiliary 0V terminals.

LINE FLTWhen this input is switched to +12V, a “Line Fault”condition is generated. A “Line Fault” condition Inthe unset mode will cause a “Chime” type tone tobe generated every minute, which can besilenced by entering any valid passcode. A “LineFault” condition In the set mode will cancel the“Bell Delay”.

REM RESETIf the system is programmed for “Engineer Reset”,then after a full alarm the system will requireresetting, normally this is done by the engineer orcoded remote reset. Applying a -ve to this inputterminal will cause the system to reset after a fullalarm. This input could be connected to the“Control” output on a RedCARE STU so that theAlarm Receiving Centre can poll the STU and thusreset the panel.

DC6 Digi-Modem InstallationA plug-on digi-modem DC6 can be fitted insidethe control panel to allow remote interrogationand programming via a personal computer (PC).It wil l also function as a standard digitalcommunicator. Before attempting to install theDC6, the installer must be aware of the following:

Regulatory RequirementsThe DC6 digi-modem must be installed by anelectrically competent person.

ApplicationThe DC6 digital communicator/modem is suitablefor connection to the following types of telephoneline:

Direct exchange lines (PSTN) supporting DTMF(Tone dialling) or Loop Disconnect (PulseDialling).

PABX exchanges (with or without secondaryproceed indication).

The DC6 is only approved for use withcompatible PABXs. Correct operation in allcircumstances is not guaranteed.

The DC6 is fully compatible with BT Networkservices.

Only control panels fitted with V2.0 or latersoftware, or DC6’s fitted with V1.17 or latersoftware are compatible with Call Minderand Call Divert services. For full details oncompatibility refer to Technical Bulletin002/04/98 or contact Technical Support.

ApprovalThe DC6 digital communicator/modem is notsuitable for connection as an extension to a payphone or 1+1 carrier systems. The DC6 digitalcommunicator/modem is approved for thefollowing usage:

Automatic call initialisation

Operation in absence of proceed indication

Multiple repeat attempts

Modem

Usage other than the approved usage or failure tocomply with the installation and programminginstructions may invalidate any approval given tothe apparatus.

ConnectionsConnection terminals on the DC6 are describedas "Telecommunications Network Voltage" circuits(TNV).

It is important that the installer ensures thatTNV connections are only connected tothe PSTN and SELV circuits are onlyconnected to other circuits designated asSELV circuits.

Please ensure that cabling to thetelephone line connections (TNV) arerouted well away from the detectioncircuitry (SELV) and the cabling to thedetection circuitry (SELV) are routed wellaway from the telephone circuitry (TNV).

Interconnection circuits should be suchthat the equipment continues to complywith the requirements of 4.2 of EN 41003 forTNV circuits and 2.3 of EN 60950 for SELVcircuits, after making connectionsbetween circuits.

Installation

For your safety, installation of the DC6MUST be carried out in the sequenceshown below:

1. Ensure that all power is removed from thesystem i.e. mains supply and standby battery.

2. Remove the DC6 from its packaging and fitthe plastic mounting pillars into the 4 holesprovided.

3. Align the DC6 with the connector JP4 on themain PCB and push firmly into place.

4. Connections to the telephone network mustbe made via a NET master socket (Line Box).

5. Using the cable type 1/0.5mm CW1308, stripback 5mm of the required cores and feed intothe control panel though the appropriatecable entry. Keep all telephone cables at least5mm away from other alarm cables.

6. Connect the two telephone cables to theterminal blocks A and B, see figure 22.

7. Remove the two screws from the BT masterjack socket and remove the bottom sectionfrom the master jack.

8. Connect the cable from A and B terminals onthe DC6 to the BT master jack terminals, seefigure 22.

9. A special insertion tool will be required toconnect the cable to the master jack, this isavailable from RS Components (Part No.470-487).

10.Replace the bottom section of the master jacksocket and replace the two screws.

11.Re-apply power to the control panel.

12.The DC6 must now be programmed, refer to"Modem Options” on page 47.

13.Each channel can be tested using theDigicom Test routine, see page 49.

14.Finally replace and secure the cover on thecontrol panel.

DC54 & DC58M InstallationA plug-on digital communicator DC54, DC58 orDC58M may be fitted inside the control panel toallow alarm status information to be transferred toa dedicated central station. The unit should befitted in accordance with the installationinstructions supplied with it and connected to thecontrol panel plug DIGI-MODEM (JP3) using thelead provided with the unit. The NVM within the willneed to be programmed using an engineer’skeypad or PP5.

The control panel can only support oneplug-on Digi-Modem either the DC6 orDC54/58M. Do not connect both types tosame control panel.

Connecting a PrinterThe TS690 and TS690ID supports two type ofprinters, the CPA6 printer (no longer available) andany standard RS232 printer. When using an RS232printer a DCI/MPA printer adaptor will be required.Menvier Security supply a DATAC printer kit whichconsists of a portable RS232 printer, charger unitand DCI adapter.

Using the DATAC / RS232 Printer1. Plug the DCI/MPA on to the PRINTER plug (JP1)

on the main control panel PCB.

2. Plug the other end of the DCI/MPA into theDATAC or RS232 printer.

3. In order for the printer to work correctly ensurethat the printer is set to the following:

Baud rate = 4800Parity = NoneStart bits = 1Stop bits = 2Data bits = 8DTR = Normal

4. When setup correctly the system programdetails and event log can be printed.

5. When finished unplug the MPA/DCI. If theprinter is left connected events will be printedas and when they occur.

Using the CPA6 Printer6. Plug the CPA6 printer directly on to the PRINTER

plug (JP1) on the main control panel PCB.

7. The printer will printout a header, when finishedthe system program details and event log canbe printed.

8. When finished unplug the printer. If the printer isleft connected events will be printed as andwhen they occur.

Programmable OutputsThe TS690 and TS690ID has many programmableoutputs which can be used to drive relays, LED’setc. Each output can be programmed for adifferent function, see “Programmable OutputTypes” on page 26.

Control Panel OutputsThe control panel has three programmableoutputs:

[1] Set of voltage free changeover contactsrated at 1 Amp.

[-2] Switched -ve output rated at 500mA.

[+3] Switched +ve output rated at 500mA.

Remote Keypads & TS700.LECsEach remote keypad and TS700 LEC has oneprogrammable output:

[O/P] Switched -ve output rated at 100mA.

Pre Power-Up ChecksOnce the system is installed, but prior topowering-up, give the system one final check toensure that:

1. The wiring conforms to the requirementsdetai led in th is manual and that al linterconnections are correct (A to A, B to Betc.).

2. All system cables are kept clear of mainssupply cables, telephone cables and R.F.cables. It is recommended that cable ties beused to keep cables separated.

3. Verify that maximum cable lengths andresistance's are not exceeded.

4. Mains power supply cables to the system areconnected to an un-switched fused spur.

5. Grommets are used where cables enter metalhousings to ensure that insulation is notcompromised.

ID Cable Checks (TS690ID Only)Before powering-up the control panel it isrecommended that the following tests areperformed on the ID Loop:

1. Disconnect the two cores of the ID loop fromthe control panel [ID LOOP +] and [ID LOOP -]terminals.

2. Use a DVM to measure the resistance betweenthe two cores. If the resistance is below 1kOhms then there is a short circuit or other wiringdefect on the ID loop. This must be correctedbefore going any further. The exact resistanceyou measure will depend on the number of IDdevices connected to the ID loop and thetype of DVM that you have. Typical resistancereadings are as follows:

3. With the ID loop still disconnected from thecontrol panel, use a DVM to measure theresistance between the following cores andterminals:

(a) ID + core and 0V terminal.

(b) ID + core and +12V terminal.

(c) ID + core and Mains earth terminal.

(d) ID - core and 0V terminal.

(e) ID - core and +12V terminal.

(f) ID - core and Mains earth terminal.

In all cases the DVM should indicate an opencircuit, any other reading could indicate ashort circuit or wiring fault and must beinvestigated.

4. At the control panel, twist the two cores of theID loop together so that the ID loop is shorted.

5. At each end of the ID loop (points A, B and C inour example shown in the figure below)

measure the resistance between the twocores of the ID loop (normally theses are theyellow and blue cores). See the table of page8. A reading greater than 2K Ohms is usuallycaused by an open circuit.

6. Re-connect the ID Loop to the control panel.When the system is powered up use the “SLOWSCAN” feature to check voltage levels at eachdevice, see page 37.

Initial Power-UpTo power the system for the first time:

1. Place a small screwdriver blade between thepins on the control panel PCB, marked“FACTORY RESET”. This will ensure the factorydefault parameters are set, see page 24.

2. Switch on the 240V mains supply and removethe screwdriver blade.

3. Check that the power LED on the control panelPCB is illuminated.

4. Check that the LED remote keypads display“LT” (Panel Lid tamper) and LCD remotekeypads display “Panel Lid tamper”. Theremote keypad sounders and extensionloudspeakers will operate.

5. Enter the engineers passcode (default 1234) tosilence the sounders.

6. Connect the standby battery.

Power-Up ChecksWhen the initial power-up checks have beencompleted, check the following:

1. Switch off the 240V mains supply and measurethe DC voltage at each remote keypad andensure the voltage is greater than 11V whilstthe system is powered from its standby battery.

2. Switch on the 240V mains supply and measurethe DC voltage between the mains earthconnection and AUX. +12V. Then measure theDC voltage between the mains earthconnection and AUX. 0V. In both cases themeasurement should be 1V or less. If thevoltage is greater than 1V, the system has an“Earth Fault” and all cables should be checkedfor isolation to Earth

3. Using a voltmeter measure the DC voltageacross the control panel PCB test points (V) andcalculate the system current consumption(see page 11). Ensure that the reading is notgreater than 1.0A (1.5A for TS690ID).

4. Repeat test (3) with the system in an alarmcondition and ensure that the reading is notgreater than 1.0A (1.5A for TS690ID).

200 - 237 Circuit AlarmsActive when a circuit causes an alarm, or isactivated during a walk test, for circuits 01 to38 respectively.Following a wallk test, the operator canconfirm the operation of all the appropriatecircuits at a mimic panel. The control unitclears these indications when the operatorenters a valid passcode.

Program Circuits [1.4]The TS690 can monitor up to 14 detection circuits,whereas the TS690ID can monitor up to 38detection circuits. Each circuit must beprogrammed in order for the system to respondcorrectly.

Circuit TypesThe circuit type defines how the circuit will respondwhen it is triggered. The following circuit types areavailable:

0 Not UsedA circuit that will never generate any alarm.

1 NightA circuit that will generate a full alarm when thesystem is set.

2 24hrA circuit which is monitored at all times. Whentriggered in the unset condition a local alarm isgenerated and when triggered in the setcondition a full alarm is generated.

3 PA SilentA circuit which is monitored at all times. Whentriggered it will activate any outputs that areprogrammed as P.A.

4 PA AudibleA circuit which is monitored at all times. Whentriggered it will activate any outputs that areprogrammed as P.A. and generate a fullalarm condition.

5 FireA circuit that is normally connected to a smokedetector. When triggered it will generate a firetone on the internal sounders, the externalsounders are pulsed for the bell duration andany outputs programmed as fire will beactivated.

6 AuxiliaryA circuit which is monitored at all times. Whentr iggered i t wi l l act ivate any outputsprogrammed as Auxiliary.

7 Final ExitThis must be the first detector or door contactthat is triggered when entering the protectedarea. When the setting mode for the system isprogrammed for Final Exit setting, openingand closing of this circuit during the exitprocedure will cause the system to set. Onceset, activation of this circuit will start the entrytimer.

8 Exit TerminatorA circuit that is normally connected to a pushbutton outside the protected premises, whichcan be used to finally set the system or area.

9 Keyswitch(Also includes Lockset.) A circuit that may beconnected to a keyswitch to allow settingand/or part-setting of the system.

The Keyswitch circuit has two groups ofattributes. The first group of attributes controlthe wards that are set/unset when the circuit isswitched between “Healthy” and “Active”. Thesecond group of attributes selects the type ofKeyswitch (Momentary or Latched) or selectsthe Lockswitch zone type.

When programming the Keyswitch circuit theeight standard attributes are not available,instead the attributes are used to select theKeyswitch operation as follows:

[1] Full Set Group - “Healthy” to “Active”.

[2] Code Set Group A - “Healthy” to “Active”.

[3] Code Set Group B - “Healthy” to “Active”.

[4] Code Set Group C - “Healthy” to “Active”.

[7] Inverted - Inverts the operation of thekeyswitch.

If the “Keyswitch” is not assigned to any of theabove options, the circuit becomes a“Monitored” circuit. A “Monitored” circuit ismonitored at all times. When triggered it willactivate any outputs that are programmed asTimed Output and log the event.

Circuit AttributesEach circuit type can have one or more attributesassigned to it to alter its operation. The followingcircuit attributes can be programmed:

1 AccessCircuits programmed with this attribute areautomatically isolated during the entryprocedure to allow a “walk through” route forthe user to access the remote keypad. The“Access” attribute can only be assigned toNight and Final Exit circuit types.

2 Double KnockCircuits programmed with this attribute will onlycause an alarm condition if:

a) The circuit is activated twice within theDouble Knock window (this time may be set inthe System Timers menu).

b) The circuit remains active for the wholeduration of the Double Knock window. The“Double Knock” attribute can only be assignedto Night, 24hr, PA and Auxiliary circuit types.

3 TestCircuits with this attribute will be disabled fromthe system for the period set by the “Test Time”(see System Timers). If the circuit is activatedduring this period the activation will be loggedand the user is informed of the circuit failurewhen trying to set the system. The test failmessage may only be cleared with theEngineers passcode. If at the end of the testperiod no activations have occurred thecircuit is automatically removed from test andbehaves as normal. The test period is initiatedby entering the Engineers passcode. The “Test”attribute can only be assigned to Night, 24hr,PA Silent, PA Audible, Fire, Auxiliary, and circuittypes.

4 OmittableCircuits with this attribute are allowed to beomitted by the user when setting the system.

The “Omit” attribute can only be assigned toNight, 24hr, and Auxiliary circuit types.

5 ResetThis attribute is normally assigned to a circuitthat is connected to a vibration or smokedetector, so that during the “Detector Reset”period the circuit is not monitored. The “Reset”attribute can only be assigned to Night, 24hr,Fire and Auxiliary circuit types.

6 MonitoredCircuits with this attribute will activate the"T imed Output" when tr iggered. The“Monitored” attribute can only be assigned toNight, 24hr, Fire, Auxiliary and Final Exit circuittypes.

7 EntryCircuits with this attribute will initiate the entryprocedure when the system is part-set andrespond as normal when full set. This attributemust be assigned to all circuits that arerequired to initiate the entry procedure in thepart-set condition. The “Entry” attribute canonly be assigned to Night, 24hr and Final Exitcircuit types. When assigned to a 24 Hourcircuit type, the circuit can be used to initiatethe entry procedure. Once the system is unsetthe 24 hour will revert to normal operation.

8 ChimeCircuits with this attribute will cause the internalsounders and remote keypad sounders togenerate a two tone “chime” sound if thecircuit is activated. The “chime” attribute mayonly be assigned to Night, 24hr, Auxiliary, FinalExit and Exit Terminator circuit types.

System Timers [1.5]The system timers are as follows:

00 Abort DelayThis timer sets the period in which the alarmsignal may be aborted following an alarmcondition. When an alarm occurs, the “AbortOutput” (043) is only activated if the system isunset within this period. If the system is unsetafter this period the abort output is NOTactivated. The “Alarm” (005) output is alsorestored when the abort output is activated.This timer has a working range of 000-199seconds. (Default: 180 Secs)

01 No. Re-armsAt the end of the bell duration time the systemre-arms all circuits that are healthy. Circuits that

are still in an alarm condition are isolated untilthey change to a healthy condition. Thiscounter controls the number of times that a"circuit" will re-arm before it is locked out of thesystem. This counter has a working range of000-199. (Default: 003)

02 Settle TimeWhen setting the system by “Final Exit” or “ExitTerminator”, detectors that are on the exit routesometimes take 3-4 seconds to settle afteractivation. The delay programmed in this timeris used to allow these detectors to settle beforethe system or area is set. This timer has aworking range of 000-199 seconds. (Default:007 Secs)

03 Pset Com. DlyWhen the system is part -set thecommunication of an alarm signal to thecentral station can be delayed by the valueset in this timer. If the timer is set to 199 thepart-set communications are disabled. Thistimer has a working range of 000-199 seconds.

If you set this timer to 199 then the controlpanel overrides keypad lockout duringpart-set.Cooper Security also recommends thatyou change the digicom output type(see Eng 1.2 or 1.3) from 008 to 047. Thiswill stop the control panel transmitting aclose signal when the users part set thesystem.

(Default: 000 Secs)

04 Exit TimeThis timer sets the delay between the userinitiating the exit procedure and the system (orarea) actually setting. If during the exit time an“Exit Terminator” circuit is activated the exit timeis cancelled and the system sets immediately.This timer has a working range of 000-199seconds. (Default: 030 Secs)

05 Entry TimeWhen the system is set or part-set, and the entryprocedure is initiated, the entry timer starts tocount down. If a valid user passcode has notbeen entered when the timer reaches zero,the internal sounders are activated and the“2nd Entry” timer is started. This timer has aworking range of 000-199 seconds. (Default:015 Secs)

09 Test TimeThis timer varies the number of days that “Test”attribute may be applied to a circuit. If thetimer is set to 000 then circuits will remain ontest until the “Test” attribute is removed. Thistimer has a working range of 000-030 days.(Default: 014 Days)

10 2nd EntryWhen the “Entry Timer” has expired the “2ndEntry timer” starts to count down, if at the end ofthis time the system or area has not been unsetthen a full alarm will be generated. This timerhas a working range of 000-199 seconds.(Default: 015 Secs)

11 P.Set EntryThis timer sets the entry period for the systemwhen the system is in the part-set condition. Ifthe timer is set to 000 the part-set entry timer isthe same as the main entry timer (timer 05). Thistimer has a working range of 000-199 seconds.(Default: 000 Secs)

15 No. Rem. ResetsThis counter determines how many coded“Remote Resets” can occur before the systemlocks into engineer reset only. Note: RemoteReset by the "Rem Reset" input terminal is alsoaffected by this counter. This counter has aworking range of 000-199. (Default: 010)

16 Modem RingsThis counter is for use with the DC6, it allows theinstaller to specify how many rings are requiredbefore the DC6 picks up the call. If the counteris set to 000 it will pick the call up as soon as anyincoming ringing is detected. This counter hasa working range of 000-199. (Default: 005)

17 P.I.D AlarmsWhen using the DC6 and "Contact IDExtended Reporting". The number of ContactID alarms that are transmitted to the centralstation per circuit are controlled by the value ofthis counter. e.g., if the counter is set to 003then all circuits will report 3 activation’s beforethey are locked out from sending any more.Note: this does not affect the re-arm of thezone. This counter has a working range of 000 -199. (Default: 005)

19 Test CallIf the system is fitted with a DC6, it is possible forthe control panel to make the DC6 send atimed test call to the central station. The “TestCall” timer sets the period of activation, i.e.,000=Disabled, 001=daily, 007=weekly etc.Once programmed the digicom will send thetest call at the hour defined by timer 23. Thistimer has a working range of 000-199 days.(Default: 000 Days)

20 Alarm ConfirmationThis timer controls the duration of the “AlarmConfirmation” period. The timer has a workingrange of 000-199 minutes. (Default: 30 mins)

21 Line Flt DlyThis timer delays the “audible” line faultindication when a telephone line fault occurs.The display and any outputs programmed as“Line Fault” are not affected. If the timer is set to199 the monitoring of line fault is disabled. Thistimer has a working range of 000-199 minutes.(Default: 000 Mins)

22 Service TimeThe installation company may use this timer toperiodically generate a “SERVICE REQUIRED”message so that the user is reminded that aservice call is required. The users may continueto set and unset the system. When theengineer attends the site and enters theirpasscode the message is cleared. The servicetimer is re-started when the engineer re-selectsthis timer option. To disable this feature set thetimer to 000. This timer has a working range of000-199 months. (Default: 000 Months)

23 Test Call AtThis timer is used in conjunction with timer 19, itcontrols the hour at which a test call is sent tocentral station. For example, if the timer is set to014 the test call will be signalled at 14.00(2.00pm). This timer has a working range of 000- 023. (Default: 003)

Setting Modes [1.6]The setting mode for full set and each part set canbe configured to the following setting modes:

1 Final ExitThe system will set when the “Final Exit” circuit isactivated and after the “Settle Time” hasexpired.

2 Exit TerminatorThe system will set when the “Final Exit” circuit isactivated, the “Exit Terminator” button ispressed and after the “Settle Time” has expired.

3 Timed ExitThe system will set when the “Exit Time” hasexpired or if the “Exit terminator” button ispressed and the “Settle Time” has expired.

4 InstantThe system will set instantly.

5 DeferredAs timed exit, however, if any circuits areactivated during the exit procedure the exittimer is restarted.

6 Lock SetTo use this method you must install a lockswitch with the contacts connected to alockset zone type.

To set the system the user first enters theiraccess code at a keypad or operates akeyswitch. The control unit starts the exit tone.Note that the exit time is infinite in this option.The user then operates the final exit zone andturns the key in the lock switch to “locked”. Thesystem sets seven seconds after the lock switchcontacts open.

To unset the system the user turns the lockswitch to “unlocked” (closing the lock switchcontacts). The keypads start a continuoustone. At this point the user can lock thelockswitch again without causing any alarm.When the user opens the final exit zone thecontrol unit starts the entry timer. The usercompletes entry by unsetting the system in thenormal way.

Note that when the user unlocks the lockswitchthe control unit disables Alarm Confirmation.The control unit enables Alarm Confirmationagain if the user locks the lockswitch withoutstarting the entry timer.

If an intruder opens the final exit door withoutfirst unlocking the lockswitch then the controlunit immediately starts an unconfirmed alarm.If the intruder goes on to violate another zoneand you have enabled Alarm Confirmationthen the control unit sends a confirmed alarm.

Remote Reset Algorithm [1.8]When the system is programmed for “EngineerReset” the requirement to send an engineer to sitecan be overridden by the user by using the“Remote Reset” facility. If an alarm is generatedthe system will respond with a four digit “seed”code which the user quotes to the AlarmReceiving Centre or alarm company. The “seed”code is then entered into a decoder and a unique“Remote Reset” code is generated. This is passedback to the user and on entering the “RemoteReset” code, the system is reset.

The “Remote Reset” code is generated using analgorithm identified by a 3 digit number.Alternative algorithms can be selected but thesemust correspond to that used by the ARC (or alarmcompany) otherwise the “Remote Reset” code willbe incorrect. (Default: 004)

Configuration [1.9]The configuration options are as follows:

00 Bell is an SABWhen programmed as “Yes” the control panelbell output applies 0V when active. Whenprogrammed as “No” the control panel belloutput removes 0V when active. (Default: Yes)

33 Confirmation OnWhen programmed as “Yes” then the Digicomreports a Channel 3 (005 Intruder) for anintruder alarm as normal. If a subsequent zoneis triggered within the same set period then theDigicom reports Channel 7 (011 ConfirmedAlarm). 35 Tamp as BurgDD243: 2002 states that alarm signals andconfirmation signals must be transmitted usingcertain codes. In some case these codes donot conform to Cooper Securi ty Ltd’simplementation of the CID standard. Thisoption allows you to program the control unit tosend tampers as alarm.When programmed as “Yes” then the controlunit sends tampers to the ARC as IntruderAlarm (CID 130). In Fast Format the control unittransfers the Digicom Tamper output (defaultoutput 8) to the Digicom Alarm output (defaultoutput 3).When programmed as “No” the control unitsends all messages as specified in ReportMode.(Default = No)

36 Entry Confirmation After 2 circuitsWhen programmed as “Yes” the control unitsends a confirmed alarm if an intruderactivates two separate zones after the entrytimer expires. Add/Clear ID Devices (TS690ID) [1.A]This option allows the engineer to add and removeID devices from the system. It also allows you todiagnose the ID loop.

Clear & Relearn ID DevicesThis option causes the system to clear anypreviously learnt devices and re-scan the ID loopand learn all connected devices. In order for adevice to be detected the device must NOT be ina tamper condition.

Add ID DevicesThis option causes the system to re-scan the IDloop and only learn new devices that have beenconnected. In order for a new device to bedetected the device must NOT be in a tampercondition.

Display CodesWhen using the "Clear/Add ID Devices" option thetop line of the display shows that status of IDdevices 1 to 15, the bottom line of the displayshows the status of ID devices 16 to 30. Thefollowing characters are used to indicate thefollowing status:

. Device not fitted.

H Device is healthy (normal)

A Device is active (alarm).

T Device is in tamper.

F Device is in a fault condition (normally caused bytwo devices fitted with the same ID).

Slow Scan ModeThe “SLOW SCAN” mode can be used to diagnosethe ID line and check for correct voltage levels ateach ID device. When selected the ID loopcontinuously cycles through the RESET, MID andHIGH conditions (5 seconds for each). For correctoperation, the voltages should be:

RESET 1.9V to 2.4V

MID 5.6 to 6.4V

HIGH 9.0 to 10.1V

Re-Map ID Devices (TS690ID) [1.C]This option allows the engineer to re-map IDdevices to circuits. By default all devices aremapped to their corresponding circuit, i.e. IDdevice 01 is mapped to circuit 01, ID device 28 ismapped to circuit 28, etc.

If a system relearn is required when selectingthis option, the relearn is performed first (see“Relearn Hardware”). Once the relearn hasbeen carried out re-selecting this option willselect the “Re-Map ID Devices” option.

Relearn Hardware [1.C]If the system hardware configuration haschanged whilst in engineers mode, for example aremote keypad added or removed from thesystem. The system will show “RELEARN REQUIRED”when exiting from engineers mode. To clear thismessage you must re-select engineers menu 1and press [C], the panel will generate anacceptance tone and all current hardware isre-logged on to the system. It is advisable that youconfirm the new hardware by viewing the systemlog, see page 44.

Change Passcode [2.4]This option allows the engineer to change theirpasscode. The default passcode is 1234 but theinstallation engineer should change this to theirown personal 4 digit passcode.

Chime Circuits [2.5]This option allows an alternative method ofprogramming circuits as “chime”.

Alter Shunt Group [2.6]Circuits can be assigned to the shunt group. Theshunt group can be isolated by using user menu 1option 6 or by using a “Shunt” code see “UserManual”.

Print System Log [2.7]The system log stores 700 events, if a printer isconnected to the system it is possible to print aselected number of events. Once the printout hasbeen started it can only be stopped by selectedthis option again and entering “000” for thenumber of events.

Configure Part Sets [2.8]The TS690 and TS690ID can be configured to haveup to three parts set modes (Part Set A, Part Set Band Part Set C). This option allows the engineer toconfigure each part set mode. Within each partset mode you must designate which circuits willremain armed and which circuits will be omitted.When the user selects the relevant part set modethe system only arm the circuits that aredesignated as armed and isolate the circuits thatare designated as omitted.

Only the circuit types “Night”, “Final Exit” and “Exitterminator” can be designated as omitted.

View System Log [2.9]The engineer can use this option to view thesystem log. The [A] and [C] keys allow you to scrollbackwards and forwards through the log events.

Reset User Code 1 [2.0]This option allows the installation engineer to resetthe master user (user 01) back to the factorydefault code of “5678". This feature is useful whenthe master user has forgotten their passcode orhas accidentally changed it without realising. Thisoperation is logged.

Start Call Back [2.A]If the system is fitted with a digi-modem, it ispossible for the installation engineer to initiate anupload sequence to a remote site (normally thealarm company). Once the communication link isestablished with the remote site, data can be sentand received from the control panel. This feature isonly compatible with Menvier Lineload softwareversion 2.5 or above.

Circuit TextThis option allows the engineer to program up to16 characters of text to each circuit.

Banner MessageNormally when the system is unset the bottom lineof the displays shows the time and date, and thetop line is left blank. This option allows the engineerto program a 16 character banner message,which is shown on the top line of the display. Thismay be used to display the company's name etc.

Location TextThis option allows the engineer to program a 32character location message. When “Engineersmenu 1" is selected the engineer can view thismessage. This can be used to provide the locationdetails for the control panel, e.g., ”C P located inreception area", thus assisting service engineersunfamiliar with the site.

Displaying Text on a StarburstThe TS790.STAR remote keypad is capable ofdisplaying up to eight characters of text when it isconnected to the TS690/TS690ID control panels.However the text can only be entered using aTS900 LCD remote keypad or via Lineloadsoftware.

In order for the TS790.STAR remote keypad todisplay the text, the text must have a "SpecialSpace Character" embedded in the normal textline. The TS790.STAR remote will detect thischaracter and display the preceding eightcharacters, e.g.,

AppendicesContact ID Extended ReportingContact ID extended reporting is a new formatwhich when used with the DC6 can be used toreport circuit ID data, user ID etc. The centralstation alarm receiver must be capable ofreceiving “Contact ID extended Format” data.

Contact ID Reporting takes the following format:

Resetting the Engineers passcodeIf the installation engineer has inadvertentlychanged the engineers passcode or thepasscode has been forgotten, the passcode canbe reset back to 1234 without losing any otherprogrammed data. This procedure can only beused providing a master user passcode isavailable:

1. Ensure that the system is unset and a userpasscode is available.

2. Remove the cover from the control panel, thiswill cause a “Panel Lid tamper” alarm.

3. Ask the user to enter their passcode to silencethe alarm.

4. Place the blade of a small screwdriverbetween the pins labelled “FACTORY RESTART”.A multi-tone sound indicates the engineerspasscode has been reset.

5. Replace the control panel cover. At theremote keypad enter 1234. The display willshow “Engineers Menu 1". To change theengineer’s passcode see ”Change Engineer’sPasscode on page 43.

Part-Set Application ExampleThis application example shows how to configurethe part set buttons to set different areas of a 3bedroom house.

Using the drawing of a typical 3 bedroom house,the following part set modes are required:

Circuit 02 (Hallway detector) must beprogrammed as a “Night” circuit with the“Entry” attribute. This will ensure that theentry t imer is started when theoccupants come downstairs to unset thesystem.

Alarm Abort & ConfirmationBoth the TS690 and TS690ID support “Alarm Abort”and “Sequential Confirmation”. The alarm abortcan be achieved by either sending an abortsignal on a dedicated channel or by restoring thealarm channel.

Alarm Abort OperationWhen the alarm is triggered the system transmits achannel 3 (Alarm) to the ARC. If the system is unsetwithin the “Abort Delay” period the abort output istriggered and an Abort signal is transmitted to theARC. The alarm output is also restored.

Sequential Confirmation OperationWhen the first alarm is triggered, the systemtransmits channel 3 (Alarm) to the ARC. If adifferent zone is activated the system transmitssecond alarm signal to the ARC.

1. If the DC6 is being used program the digicomchannels as shown below, see “DigiChannels”, on page 26. If a stand-alonedigicom is being used program the digicomoutputs as shown below, see “Digi Outputs”, onpage 26.

Setup New UsersThe TS690 and TS690ID allows up to 15 users tooperate the alarm system, each user is assigned auser type and 4 digit passcode. User 01 is themaster user which has a default setting of 5678.

User TypesThe following user types are available:

MasterUser 01-15 can be programmed as the type“Master”. If the installation company hasprogrammed the master user for full access, theywill have access to all user menus and options. Ifthe installation company has programmed themaster user for limited access, they will NOT haveaccess to “User menu 2" options 6 and 8.

StandardUsers 02-15 can be programmed as the type“Standard”. This user type can set and unset thealarm system and access ”User menu 1”.

HolidayUsers 02-15 can be programmed as the type“Holiday”. This user type can set and unset thealarm system and access “User menu 1”.However, the passcode is automatically deletedfrom the system when a master user passcode isused to unset the alarm system. Normally themaster user would assign this passcode type atemporary user whilst they are away on holiday.

Set OnlyUsers 02-15 can be programmed as “Set Only”.This user type allows the alarm system to be setand access to “User menu 1".

Reset OnlyUsers 02-15 can be programmed as “Reset Only”.This user type allows 24hr alarms to be reset andaccess to “User menu 1" option 1 to 7 and 9.

DuressUsers 02-15 can be programmed as “Duress”.When this user type is entered a silent “Panic Alarm”(i.e., Bell and sounders not triggered) is transmittedto the central station via the telephone line andremote signalling device (if fitted). The user will stillbe able to set and unset the alarm system andaccess “User menu 1".

All other user code types will generate a“Duress” alarm if the passcode is enteredwith the first two digits reversed (e.g., for astandard passcode of 2580 enter 5280 togenerate a “Duress” alarm). If required, this

feature can be disabled by the installationcompany or by making the first two digits ofthe passcode the same.

PA CodeUsers 02-15 can be programmed as “PA Code”.When this user type is entered a “Panic Alarm”' istransmitted to the central station via the telephoneline and remote signalling device (if fitted). Theexternal sounder(s) and strobe light(s) are alsoactivated.

ShuntUsers 02-15 can be programmed as “Shunt”.When this user type is entered the circuits assignedto the shunt group are isolated. When thepasscode is re-entered the circuits assigned to theshunt group are reinstated.

This user type will be displayed as “Access”on the TS790 Starburst remote keypad.
