Rtn Ron D Burton – RI President, 2013-14


Ron D. Burton, a member of the Rotary Club of Norman, Oklahoma, USA.

Burton retired as president of the University of Oklahoma Foundation Inc in 2007.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, as well as the bar associations of Cleveland County and the state of Oklahoma.

He is admitted to practice in Oklahoma and before the U.S. Supreme Court. Burton has received the RI Service Above Self Award and The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service, Distinguished Service Award, and International Service Award for a Polio-Free World.

Burton and his wife Jetta, have two children and three grandchildren.

He is married to Karuna, who is a school teacher at Ooty. Daughter Anjana, Son Abhishek

A Dental Surgeon by profession

A member of Indian Dental Association, he was the Founder Secretary and is a Past President of the Nilgiris Branch of Indian Dental Association. A past member of the State Executive of Tamil Nadu State IDA Branch, he was the Local Organizing Secretary of Tamil Nadu State Dental Conference hosted at Ooty in 2003.

He was a Founder Member of the Madras Dental College Alumni Association and the Representative Member of all the Dental Surgeons of Nilgiris District in the Nilgiris Society for Bio-Medical Waste Management. He is actively involved in community service projects on Dental Awareness and Health of the I.D.A.

He joined Rotary in Rotary year 1988-89 as a member of the Rotary Club of Ootacamund .

He was his Rotary club President in 1997-98..

Many Rotary responsibilities over the years, some noteworthy highlights are: 1.Organizing Secretary of P.E.T.S. at Ooty in 1997 2.Project Coordinator for the Mega District Project- Rotary against AIDS (RAID) at Ooty 3.Deputy District Director – Mega District Matching Grant Project in 1998-99 when he was responsible for the selection of clubs in Tamil Nadu for allocation of Rotary Ambulances\GGR in 1999-2000 4.District Director-Dental Care in 2000-01 5.Assistant Governor in 2002-03\ District Governors’ Special Liaison Officer for District Assembly at Ooty in 2002 6.Chairman of Fellowship Meet at Ooty in 2006 and the Chairman of AGs and RCs Training Meet at Ooty in 2007. He was the Rotary International G.S.E. Team Leader to R.I. District 1690, France in 2001.

Enjoys Public Speaking and Driving cars.

He is the first dentist to be the District Governor of our Rotary District 3202.
