The Musicquarium is a collective of London based professional musicians. We provide live bands

for around 150 weddings, corporate events and parties each year. We have a network of

musicians based all over the UK (including London, Bath, Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester) so no

matter where you need to hire live music we can provide the perfect entertainment package.

How do our live music packages work?

The Musicquarium has a unique approach to live band bookings. Rather than one 'standard' band

performing a set repertoire we operate a 'super band' with multiple performance options. You

could choose one of our predefined function bands or you can “mix-and-match” multiple styles

and musicians to create the perfect sound track to your event. Most of our musicians can perform

in most of our function bands so you have complete flexibility over the style, instrumentation and

repertoire!

All of our musicians have an excellent pedigree, with most members having backgrounds in the

UK's top music schools, The National Youth Jazz Orchestra and some of the top London west end

shows. Many of our musicians are also very highly sought after for some of today's most popular

recording artists. You can add performance options at any time so even if you don't know exactly

what type of function band you need to start with, you can book one of our bands with

confidence in the knowledge that you can add the extras later.

Classic soul, funk and 70s grooves with a touch of

pop and rock to give you the ultimate dance

floor sound track. FUNKification is one of the

busiest and most sought after live wedding and

function bands in the UK with over 10 years

performing experience and hundreds of events

under their belt.

Formed in 2001 from some of London's top young

professional musicians, the band has evolved into

the awesome party function band that you see

today. The band never fails to impress with it's

huge range of performance options and

repertoire. It doesn't matter whether you want a live funk band, soul band, 70s disco band, 80s

band, pop band or rock band; FUNKification can provide the exact mix of repertoire required. No

two performances are the same!

The band is scalable from 5 to 15-piece with a huge range of vocalist and brass section options.

No matter which size of live function band you book the performance, energy and repertoire will

be outstanding. To give you an image of the band, think Earth Wind & Fire mixed with The

Commitments, a dash of James Brown, a sprinkle of Aretha Franklin and a side order of

Jamiroquai. The band has one of the largest repertoires of any function band on the scene today.

A selection of swing repertoire can be incorporated into the band’s sets, if required, by choosing

to 'mix-and-match' with some of our Swing Connection musicians.

An eclectic mix of your pop, rock and disco

favourites with a healthy dose of soul and funk. A

hugely broad repertoire ('50s through to '00s)

means that you can't fail to choose an evening

of all-time classics to keep the dance floor filled.

Scalable from 4 to 9-piece with a range of

vocalist and brass section options.

The core band is a 6-piece but this can easily be

scaled down to a smaller group if required. The 4-

piece band has a larger emphasis on pop and

rock due to the absence of a keyboard but the

5-piece band and upwards covers the whole

spectrum of repertoire. The band is led by one of

our outstanding female vocalists and you can add another one, or even two male or female

vocalists to the line-up to create an amazing vocal harmony blend.

The pop/rock/soul band is scalable from 4 to 9-piece with a huge range of vocalist and brass

section options. No matter which size of live function band you book the performance, energy

and repertoire will be outstanding. The band has one of the largest repertoires of any function

band or Wedding band on the scene today. A selection of swing repertoire can be incorporated

The core band is a 4-piece comprised of male vocals/guitar, keyboards, bass and drums but they

can easily scale down to a 3-piece if required (no keyboard) for events tight on space or budget,

or add female vocals for a great vocal duet. The band is led by one of our outstanding male

vocalists who never fails to get the crowd jumping, and the rhythm section is comprised of some of

the best in the business. Female vocals and a second guitarist are popular additions to give the

ultimate flexibility with sound and repertoire.

‘Ratpack’ swing and sophisticated jazz standards

with a touch of soul. The perfect mix for a great

show! Live music performed to this standard just

can't be beaten for creating an electric

atmosphere of nostalgia at your event.

The band is fronted by one of the finest male jazz

vocalists on the scene today and is backed by

an outstanding rhythm section who never fail to

the get the room swinging. The optimum ‘big

band’ sound comes with the 8-piece band featuring a 4-piece brass section, but the band can

easily be scaled down to perform with 2 or even no brass. Female vocals and guitar are

recommended optional extras if you require additional soul/party repertoire. A selection of

soul/pop repertoire can be incorporated into the band’s sets, if required, by choosing to 'mix-and-

match' with some of our FUNKification or Amberstar musicians.

The ultimate jazz/swing ensemble to provide

literally ANY size or style of band for your event.

Stylish, sophisticated, versatile and immensely

talented. Scalable from a solo musician to a full

swinging big band. Perfectly suited to provide

background jazz for a wedding ceremony, drinks

reception or meal.

Most jazz ensembles are simply one size and

provide one style of music. The UJC is based

around an outstanding group of professional

London jazz musicians who are seasoned regulars

on the jazz circuit. The musicians regularly perform in a variety of line-ups around the UK and

Europe, and can be seen at some of the top UK jazz venues. They can personally tailor their

formation to exactly fit with your requirements, and in the unlikely event that you can find a

formation that they haven't played in, then they will put together a group specifically for your

event! You could even have multiple groups at your event playing in separate locations if

required. For example sax/piano duo for your drinks reception, piano/bass/drums trio during your

meal and a full swing band, or even a big band, for the evening dance.

The band’s lineup options and repertoire is almost limitless. Balllads, blues, latin, bebop, swing,

20s/30s/40s/50s, even soul and jazz funk - it's all in there somewhere. The band is happy to take

requests for your event, thus giving you complete flexibility.

Acoustica's musicians are consummate

Quirky pop and funk covers with a New Orleans

infused brass band twist.

The Gold Diggers Brass Band is a 5-piece brass

band playing quirky pop and funk covers with a

New Orleans infused brass band twist. They are

completely portable and acoustic so they are

equally at home performing on a lawn at a

garden party or performing on stage in an arena!

Their flexible lineup enables the band to adapt to

more of a 'compact' performance with the 5-

piece or they can scale up to the full-on brass

extravaganza of the 9-piece sound machine.

Their musical arrangements are completely original and not necessarilly of tunes you would

expect a brass band to play; Van Halen and Stevie Wonder alongside The Meters and The Scissor

Sisters. The band draws its influence from legendary pop and soul artists such as Stevie Wonder,

Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson, performing in the style of some of today's outstanding brass

bands such as Youngblood, Rebirth and The Hackney Colliery Band (with which some of GDBB's

musicians perform). Completely unique, entertaining and unexpected!

Foot-tapping Dixieland and traditional 'vintage'

jazz. Perfect for outdoor events and festivals.

The St. Louis Strollers came together in London in

early 2011 with their sole aim being to produce

their own modern take on traditional 'vintage

jazz'. The musicians are some of the finest jazz

players in the London area and completely fluent

in the foot-tapping New Orleans and Dixieland

sound. Taking Louis Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot

Seven recordings of the 1920's as their starting

point they built on this foundation and added

their own take on the original arrangements. They now have a setlist comprising of some of the

best known tunes of the era and you can expect to hear music from the likes of Jelly Roll Morton,

King Oliver, Sidney Bechet and Kid Ory.

Using sousaphone as their bass instrument, and all other instruments being completely portable,

the band is completely acoustic and mobile; free to stroll around your event or move quickly from

one venue to another. Lively, fun, entertaining and charismatic; the perfect band to provide the

sound track to your garden party, drinks reception, festival or wedding.

An 'a capella' group of five gifted London singers;

fusing jazz and gospel to create a wild mix of

uplifting vocal sounds.

In 2008, five versatile professional performers and

composers from the London jazz and gospel

scene came together to form vocaLIVE - an a

cappella group with a difference. Drawing on the

rich tradition of a cappella vocal music, from the

Swingle Singers to Take Six, vocaLIVE's all-

embracing repertoire encompasses jazz, Latin,

gospel, and classical music - anything from

Michael Jackson classics to bold contemporary works.

As a group they have performed at the Barbican, Trinity College of Music, the Royal Festival Hall

and the world-famous 606 Jazz Club. They are proud to be working with the Southbank Centre's

internationally renowned choral director Mary King, who says "They are a really talented a

cappella choir with a strong and unique blend of voices. Fun, brave, talented - what more could

you wish for in a vocal ensemble?" Individually, vocaLIVE's singers have graced the stage at the

Montreaux, London, and Marlborough Jazz Festivals, toured internationally with Libera, appeared

live on BBC Radio 1, Radio 4 and BBC television, recorded at Abbey Road, and conducted at the

Roundhouse. vocaLIVE are perfectly suited to provide something a little different at your wedding

ceremony, drinks reception or even your evening party.

Classic string quartet performing a mixture of

classical, pop and jazz repertoire.

A young, professional and versatile quartet who

provide a wide variety of music to suite any

occasion. All members were scholars at London's

top music schools and have been working

together for over 7 years. In that time they have

enjoyed playing at a huge variety of formal

concerts, private functions (weddings and

parties), corporate events and in collaborative

projects in and around London. Each member of

the quartet is a busy freelance player in their own right, and as a group they have a very well

established reputation on the London professional music scene. The group prides themselves on

professionalism, punctuality and presentation and they have a huge repertoire ranging from Bach

to the Beatles.

Whether you are planning a small family

gathering or a large formal event, our DJs are

perfect to provide exactly what you need. They

can be booked to work alongside one of our

bands or as a standalone booking on their own.

Our DJs have many years of experience playing

internationally to an eclectic mix of clients

including weddings, corporate events, school

balls and full on club nights. Everything from a

small family party to a thousand happy party

people at "Cairo's Biggest Party" and kicked off a

most memorable New Year for all concerned.

We only work with a very small number of hand-picked DJs who are tried and tested with multiple

client testimonials. They offer complete flexibility with repertoire and you can build your own

request list (including first and last dances) or just leave it to the DJ to decide. We can provide just

the DJ, DJ with sound equipment (decks/laptop/CD), Fully inclusive package including PA system

and lights, or even the full works with smoke/haze machine and other effects. Our DJs have the

choice of thousands of tracks at their disposal and they are able to fine tune any celebration

whilst also being skilled at reading the dance floor and selecting the perfect vibe for any given

occasion.

If booked to work with one of our bands we will ensure that equipment is shared where possible to

minimise set up time and space requirements. This option is much cheaper than booking a

separate band and DJ package, where you may be charged twice for equipment and travel

expenses!
