• 9 -40 minute periods in a day or 18 mods.• One period is for lunch.• Each period of time is worth 5 credits for a year
long course and 2.5 for a ½ year course.• You must sign up for a minimum of 35 credits.• All 9th graders start with: English (LA), Math,
Science, and Social Studies. In addition, all 9th graders take H/PE 9, Financial Lit & CDL, plus a World Language.

EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS FOR COURSES OF STUDY AT VOORHEES HIGH SCHOOL AND NORTH HUNTERDON HIGH SCHOOL
• HONORS COLLEGE PREPARATORY PROGRAM • Students who have VERY STRONG ACADEMIC RECORDS who plan to continue their formal
academic study after high school graduation may select this course of study. Honors college preparatory work is completed in all 5 academic areas of English, Math, Science, Social Studies and World Language. Students should plan to take 16 to 20 courses in these 5 areas over the course of their 4 years at Voorhees High School. This program is a very demanding academic course at North Hunterdon and Voorhees High School. Students must be recommended by their teacher to continue at the honors level of any academic area.

• COLLEGE PREPARATORY PROGRAM • Students planning to continue their formal academic study after
high school graduation select this course of study. College preparatory level work is completed in all 5 academic areas of English, Math (ALGEBRA I and II, GEOMETRY), Science (PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY), Social Studies and World Language (minimum of 2 years). Students should plan to complete a minimum of 16 courses in these 5 areas over the course of their 4 years at North Hunterdon and Voorhees High School. This program is demanding, and students must be recommended by their teachers to continue at this level at North and Voorhees.
EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS FOR COURSES OF STUDY AT VOORHEES HIGH SCHOOL AND NORTH HUNTERDON HIGH SCHOOL 3
• GENERAL STUDIES PROGRAM • The general studies program is designed for those students who need additional basic work and a
slower pace. Emphasis on writing, computation and reading comprehension is stressed. Coursework is completed in the academic areas of English, Math, Science and Social Studies, and World Language. Students should plan to complete 12 to 16 courses in those areas throughout high school.
• VOCATIONAL/TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM • Students who plan to develop specific technical or vocational skills follow this course of study. They
may or may not go on to further training in their chosen field after they graduate from North Hunterdon or Voorhees High School. Coursework is completed in the area of English, Math, Science, Social Studies and World Language. Vocational coursework begins with completing as many graduation requirements as possible, especially in Fine Arts, during freshman and sophomore years. Half-day programs are selected for the junior and senior year, when possible. Hands-on work in the fields of technology, trades, electronics, childcare and health services are typical.
How do I pick a level for me?• Take the most challenging level you feel you can
get an A or B in.• What are your plans after HS grad?• As you go up in level the greater the expectations, the faster the curriculum goes, you are expected to work more independently
• Balance your schedule. You can have a balance of CP & H, or Core & CP.
• You can change levels for grade 10.• There are electives in every department (math, ss,
science, eng)• Talk to your parents,
brothers/sisters/cousins/friends about high school• Talk to your teachers about what level you should
take.
