HRK SERIES
HRK 658 NiMo catalyst is distinguished by its high hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) activity and improved hydrodearomatization (HDA) activity as well as enhanced hydroconversion (HDC) capability. It is well suited for pretreating the most refractory vacuum gas oils for first stage hydrocracking operations with the objective to: reduce organic nitrogen and sulfur contents in the
feed to levels that enable better hydrocracking catalyst performance in the downstream reactor section
ensure optimal hydrogenation of the aromatic compounds in the feed thus easing the downstream hydrocracking duty.
HRK 658 is available in different sizes and shows good mechanical resistance. By analogy with other Axens hydroprocessing catalysts developed over the last years, special focus has been put in delivering a product with high intrinsic stability during operation and excellent activity retention by regeneration.

HDK SERIES
As described Figure 2, HDK Series fills the gap between the HRK and HYK Series for both middle distillate selectivity and conversion activity.
HDK series is specially designed to maximize diesel production while delivering higher activity compared to conventional amorphous hydrocracking catalysts. HDK Series includes HDK 776, HDK 786 and HDK 766. Some key physical characteristics of these catalysts are shown below:

ORGANIC NITROGEN REMOVAL IMPROVEMENT
Nitrogen removal (HDN) activity is of prime importance in the pretreating section since unconverted organo-nitrogen compounds inhibit the hydrocracking catalysts in the downstream reactors. The combination of HRK Series and HDK Series is the most effective way to maximize HDN activity in the pretreatment section. It has proved to be superior to conventional hydroprocessing catalyst only options. HDN boost is of particular interest when processing heavier and more refractory feedstocks with high organo-nitrogen content.
IMPROVED HEAVY FRACTION CHARACTERISTICS
HRK and HDK series combination is well suited to improve the unconverted fraction quality when operating in high hydrocracking conversion mode, particularly when this fraction is devoted to high VI (Viscosity Index) lube oil production. Improvement in the VI of the unconverted fraction when using a combination of HRK and HDK catalysts instead of HRK alone is illustrated in Figure 4.

ZEOLITE HYDROCRACKING CATALYSTS
Axens has developed extensive experience in zeolite hydrocracking catalysts since the commercialization of the first load in 1985.
HYK 700 series, Axens latest generation zeolite products suite including HYK 732, HYK 742, HYK 752 and HYK 762, displays significantly higher activity as compared to the previous generation (HYC 600 series) coupled to utmost selectivity, improved hydrogenation activity, extended long-term stability and cycle lengths.
Optimum combination of catalysts delivers high yields in desired products.
HYK 700 series is very competitive in activity/selectivity as compared to other products on market place.
OBJECTIVES AND APPLICATIONS
HYK 700 catalysts are loaded downstream of high activity HRK series pre-treatment catalyst combined with HDK series intermediate hydrocracking catalyst.
HYK 700 catalysts are specifically designed to convert feeds such as VGO, HCGO and DAO into high quality middle-distillates, namely kerosene and diesel. Thanks to their high hydrocracking activity, HYK 700 series catalysts are well suited for the processing of heavier and more refractory hydrocracker feedstocks as they convert the less reactive components in unconverted bottoms recycle streams. The higher activity in HYK 700 catalysts enables them to be extremely tolerant to nitrogen. HYK 700 catalysts are well suited for any high conversion hydrocracker configuration including once-through, single-stage with recycle and two-stage units.
KEY FEATURES
HYK 732, HYK 742, HYK 752 and HYK 762 catalysts are the result of step-out improvements made in the fields of alumina, metal-support interaction, zeolite structure and molecular modeling. They have benefited from improvements in both the acidic (hydrocracking) and hydrogenation functions while maintaining a carefully controlled balance between them. This was made possible by: optimizing the dispersion of zeolite crystals in the
alumina matrix improving metal impregnation technology to
reduce the distance between acid and metal sites increasing the hydrogenation function efficiency
using a new alumina matrix with a higher metal loading capacity
optimizing porosity to provide better diffusion of reactants and products while maintaining high middle distillates selectivity (Figure 5).

The control and the optimization of each step of our manufacturing process lead to fully regenerable catalysts with very good mechanical properties.

CATALYST BENEFITS
HYK 700 catalysts, and especially the most active members of the series, are ideal for: processing heavier and more refractory feeds increasing throughput increasing cycle length operating with higher levels of nitrogen slip and
NH3 pressure, thus increasing pre-treating catalyst life or extending unit overall run length in operations limited by the pretreatment section.
STABLE & ROBUST
HYK 700 series catalysts are built on Axens tradition of robust and reliable hydrotreatment catalysts and provide: high stability excellent resistance to the most refractory feeds tolerance to unit upsets and H2 shortages good activity retention after conventional
regeneration strong mechanical resistance easy handling.
