Here I am, 20 years old, a senior in college, graduating next fall with two degrees, and no sense of what I want to do with my life. Although I find myself at a crossroads and overwhelmed with all the possibilities and the decisions yet to come, flipping through my photo albums remind me just how fortunate I have been these 20 years. These pictures remind me where I have been and the journey I have taken to get where I am now (even if that place is one of uncertainty). In an instant they transport me back to another time with a flood of memories and reminders of everything I have to be grateful for. With the help of my photo album, this year I am especially grateful for… My parents AND MY FAMILY IN GENERAL. I may be biased, but I have to say, I have THE best family. They support me in all that I do and I love all the time I get to spend with them. I am so grateful for my parents and all they have done for my sisters and I and in shaping who we’ve become. I may not look that much like them, but my sisters are another thing I will always be thankful for. The ability to still act like a child YOU’RE NEVER TOO OLD TO DANCE IN THE RAIN. Sometimes it’s best to go back and enjoy the things you’ve always loved–indulging in cartoon movies, starring up at the clouds, or dancing in the rain. I’m thankful I can–even if for a brief period–goof around and enjoy the simple things that make life great that we all once enjoyed so much as a child. Adventures GET MESSY. I am thankful for the adventures I’ve been on, the places I’ve traveled to, and the spontaneous plans I’ve made. I’m thankful for trying new things and seeing where adventures can take me. MYLead, traveling, and volunteering have offered me some of the greatest adventures I have also learned from. Friends FOUR LEGGED AND HUMAN. I am thankful for the friends I know I can count on to make me smile, lend support and brighten my day. I’m also thankful to know it’s not the length-of-time you’ve known someone that makes a friendship, but how willing they are to be there for the other. And yes, this does include the T.V. show FRIENDS as well, because it never fails to make me smile.
