TITANIC: THE ARTIFACT EXHIBITION

In celebration and remembrance of one of the biggest maritime disasters ever witnessed, legendary artifacts recovered from the ship’s crash site will be showcased, offering visitors a poignant look at the iconic ship and its passengers. This will include delicate perfume vials, porcelain dinnerware, personal belongings and numerous items recreating a lost era. Visitors will

get to learn about the stories of the South Africans on board the Titanic, bringing them closer to the events of that fatal night.

The TITANIC exhibition is appropriate for people of all ages and offers visitors an educational and emotional journey through the life of what is known as the grandest, most luxurious object ever built. Along the way visitors will be told stories of heroism and humanity that pay honour to the indomitable force of the human spirit in the face of tragedy.

LIFE IN COLOR

Life In Color infuses electronic music’s top DJs, world-class production, unique and stunning character performers, and a custom built paint delivery system. A countdown to the paint blast creates one of the most high energy and unforgettable experiences in the entertainment industry.

In 2013, the tour reached over 25 countries, with a plan to expand the following year. At that point, headlining DJs had included Afrojack, Axwell. Alleso, Benny Benassi, Chuckie, R3hab, etc. Regular features in shows beyond paint blasts included aerial acts, stilt walkers, contortionists, and fire shows. Now progressing towards the future, the hotel is constantly evolving. An ongoing refurbishment programme has enabled The Balalaika to offer the most modern facilities, such as free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, a business centre, and state of the art conferencing facilities (which can hold a maximum of 300 people). The Bull Run Restaurant (in existence for 14 years), offers first-class service and food.

The restaurant ages its own meat and there is even a master in-house butcher to provide only the freshest of meat. The restaurant also blends its own red and white wines, which is just another personal touch that gives the Balalaika that extra sparkle.

To me, style has so many different elements. I cannot describe my style in a certain way as I change it up all the time. Fashion is about playing dress up and being creative with your choices. This is what I love about Joburg’s take on fashion – while we remain up to date with international trends, we aren’t afraid to add some South African flavour to our style. Progressive; innovative; trendy and true to ourselves is how I see Joburg’s fashion style.
