3 Thanks to All Who Hosted Lemonade on the Lawn

The Fellowship Committee wants to

thank the many people who provided

refreshments during the summer months

for Lemonade on the Lawn. This special

time was an opportunity for fellowship

and visitation under a beautiful canopy

of trees. Thanks to everyone who helped

in any way, and especially those who provided food

and beverages for the weekly fellowship event.

Thanks again, and we look forward to a wonderful

season next year!

out of town on vacation for two weeks from Thursday, Aug 2, through Wednesday, Aug 15.

New Business: The Session passed a motion by Brenda Smiley to elect Mike Ruleman Chair of the Church Nominating Committee and to elect Theresa Moore as the second Elder member of the committee.

The next Stated Session Meeting will be Thursday, August 23, at 7:00 p.m.

Homecoming Will Be October 14 Looking ahead to October, Hebron’s annual Heritage

Sunday will be held October 14, with a covered-dish

lunch to follow morning worship. Meats/main courses

and beverages will be provided by the church, and

members are asked to bring side dishes or desserts.

Other activities are also planned, so be on the lookout

for updates and more information, and plan to join us

on Sunday, Oct. 14!

World Communion Sunday will be

October 7 this year, and Hebron will

celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord’s

Supper during morning worship.

The first Sunday in October is

always World Communion Sunday.

On this day Christians celebrate their

oneness in Christ, the Prince of

Peace, in the midst of the world we

are called to serve – a world which

ever more needs peacemaking. Be-

cause of the emphasis upon the need for the peace of

Christ among Christians and the need for peace

throughout the world, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

World Communion Sunday and Peace & Global Witness Offering Will Be Oct. 7

receives its annual Peace and Global Witness Offering

(formerly the Peacemaking offering) as part of the ob-

servance of World Communion Sunday.

World Communion Sunday began in the Shadyside

Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1933. The

United Presbyterian Church began observing the event

as a denomination in 1936, with Presbyterian churches

throughout the United States and the world all observ-

ing the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper on the same

Sunday. Over the years, many other denominations

have joined in the observance.

The Peace and Global Witness Offering is one of four

national offerings Hebron receives, along with Christ-

mas Joy, One Great Hour of Sharing, and Pentecost.
