EASTER SCHEDULE

To All St. Michael’s Parishioners and All Those Who Worship Here:

"He is not here, for He is risen." - Matthew 28:6

In the Resurrection passage from the Gospel of Matthew we read how an angel appeared to the women at the tomb early

that first Easter morning. The angel explained to them that Jesus was not there because He had been raised from the dead, just as He

had promised! Matthew tells us that the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy.

That's what the Resurrection does. It takes our fear, our worry, our hurt, our sad-

ness...and it puts it all into perspective. The fact that Jesus is risen from the dead, that He was –

and is and continues to be – victorious over death and sin, is reason to celebrate. It's that

fact that gives us joy and hope despite our cir- cumstances – whatever those circumstance may

be – and through whatever we may face. What happened on that first Easter morning still

brings us joy and it still changes lives today.

As we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus on this Easter Sunday, my prayer and

hope is that our individual and collective recog- nition of the magnificence and splendor of what

happened on this day at that tomb so many years ago will touch a chord in the hearts of all

and that we will respond to that chord – individ- ually and collectively – with joy and gratitude

and with a renewed and inspired sense of faith, hope, and love.

Fr. Mark and I wish a blessed, holy, and happy Easter to one and all. Please rejoice as we celebrate the New Life of Jesus

on that first Easter Sunday and how Jesus still changes lives today. May God bless you and your families and all your loved ones.

With prayerful best wishes,

Rev. John K. Butler, Pastor

Stephen and Paduan Ministries

Our Extraordinary Ministers made 12 Communion/shut-in visits

and two Stephen Ministry visits during this past week. We pray

that we have helped to bring God’s love and peace to His people

in need.

Regina Coeli - The Easter Prayer Regina Coeli (“Queen of

Heaven” in Latin) is a tribute to Our Lord’s resurrection and to

the Blessed Virgin Mary.

“Queen of Heaven, rejoice. Alleluia.

For He, whom thou was worthy to bear. Alle-

luia.

Has risen as He said. Alleluia.

Pray for us to God. Alleluia.

V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alle-

luia.

R. Because the Lord is truly risen, Alleluia.”

Let us pray

O God, Who by the Resurrection of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus

Christ, hast been pleased to give joy to the whole world, grant

we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Blessed

Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may attain the joys of eternal life.

Through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen

Our Extraordinary Ministers are available for our parishioners to

visit the sick; the elderly; and bring Communion. Please contact us

if you need us – 732-483-0360, Ext. 120.

Wishing all a Blessed and Happy Easter!

Today as we celebrate the feast of Easter we find the challenge of also seeing and believ-ing the resurrection that comes through our

own lives of self-sacrifice which brings new life to others. Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will show the love of the Risen Christ by bringing your love to those who live in fear and doubt, loneliness and dread.

The Blessed Mother’s Sanctuary Candle

will be lit this week in loving memory of

Libbie Mowat, requested by the McCullough

Family.

The Center Sanctuary Candle will be lit

this week in loving memory of Harold and

Julia Rose Bowman, requested by Joe and Anne Marie

Principe.

The St. Joseph's Sanctuary Candle will be

lit this week in loving memory of Edward Mowat,

requested by the McCullough Family.

The bread and wine at the 7:00 AM Mass

on Easter Sunday, April 1 has been donat-

ed by Mother Francesca Stranieri in lov-

ing memory of Rosa Alba Stranieri.

Divine Mercy Sunday -

April 8, 2018 From the diary of Sister

Maria Faustina Kowalska,

a young Polish nun, a spe-

cial devotion began

spreading throughout the

world in the 1930s. The

message is nothing new,

but is a reminder of what

the Church has always

taught through scripture

and tradition ~ that God is

merciful and forgiving and

that we, too, must show

mercy and forgiveness. With the Divine Mercy de-

votion, the message takes on a powerful new focus,

calling people to a deeper understanding that God’s

love is unlimited and available to everyone. The

Lord revealed a powerful prayer which He wanted

everyone to pray ~~THE CHAPLET OF THE DI-

VINE MERCY ~~ and He promised extraordinary

graces to those who would recite it.

Join us on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 2:30pm at

Saint Michael’s church for this special devotion

on Divine Mercy Sunday. Confessions will be

available from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m.

Palm Sunday 2018 Collection

Irish Language Mass

St. Michael’s was the venue for a Mass in the Irish

Language on Tuesday, March 20 to commemorate St. Patrick

and to recall and honor the contributions of Ireland to Christi-

anity, art, literature, music, and culture. Please see the accom-

panying photos from this special event. Thank you to Rev.

Harold Cullen (principal celebrant and homilist), Dotty O’Ha-

ra, and all those who helped create and who attended this Mass.

After the Irish Language Mass many members of the group re-

convened at the Robinson Ale House in Red Bank for supper

and then for the 56th Anniversary concert performance by The

Chieftains at the Count Basie Theater. It was a very joyous

evening for all.
