MINISTRY NOTES December 3-9, 2016
Guests: Please stop by the Welcome Center for a gift and more information about Peace.
Growth Gatherings Continue through December 11 Join us this week as Pastor Weis and Vicar Hauser
expand upon this weekend’s sermon during the Growth Gathering on Sunday, December 4, at 10:15am in the church gym near the stage.
Join Us for Advent Services
We will celebrate Advent with Wednesday evening services on December 7 at the church and December 14
at the school. See inside for details. Our Monday evening services will resume in January.
Prayerfully Consider a Double Tithe by Year’s End God is so good. He not only provides for our daily needs, He has given us His One and Only Son, Jesus. He has given us a hope
and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Knowing God's goodness, Pastor Weis challenges us to prayerfully consider giving a
“double tithe” before the end of the calendar year. This is an opportunity to thank God for His abundant blessings and to
remind ourselves that all we have comes from Him.
Lord, thank you for your abundant blessings and grace. Thank you for your birth in a manger, death on a cross
and resurrection claiming victory over sin, death and Satan. Please accept my additional gift to your ministry at Peace
as a thank offering for the blessings You so abundantly overflow in my life. In Your name we pray, Amen.
Please pray for...
Those who have been HOSPITALIZED … Michele Dukas and Jim Hensler (Covenant Cooper), and Judy Zirkle (Michigan Campus).

SCHOOL Notes
Treats Needed: We are looking for
donations of treats/baked goods to sell during
the Children's Shopping Day at Peace School
on Friday,
December 9.
Any homemade
Christmas treat
would be
wonderful! We
have treat bags
available for
pickup at the
school office.
Donations
would need to be dropped off at the school by
the evening setup on Thursday, December 8.
School Christmas Celebration: On
Wednesday, December 14, at 2 p.m. and
6:30 p.m., the Preschool through Grade 8
students of Peace Lutheran School will
present this year's All-School Christmas
Celebration, “The Bethlehem Project.” This
program features the traditional Christmas
story but with a fresh twist that provides both
fun and life relevance for the students and for
all who come to hear the message. This
dramatic musical begins with lots of humor
and colorful characters but moves to a pointed
message of love, salvation and reconciliation.
Those who come will enjoy a wide variety of
fun styles, including contemporary, country,
‘50s rock and roll, rap, calypso and more!
Come and enjoy this year's presentation, and
use it to help you prepare your hearts
spiritually this Advent for the celebration of
Christ's birth.

There will be one mass event per day and a daily Bible study session each day. You have the opportunity to attend breakout sessions on Monday and Tuesday of the gathering.

WHO: Current ninth-graders through college freshman.
LOCATION: Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island.
COST: $385 – includes ferry tickets, breakfast Monday and Tuesday and lunch and dinner provided on Monday and Tuesday with a buffet breakfast provided on Wednesday morning, housing, program, luggage handling, and a T-shirt.

a donation for 2016, your mailed contribution
to Peace must be postmarked by December
31. Electronic donations must be initiated by
December 31. Contributions received in
the plate on Sunday, January 1, will be
attributed to 2017. Donations and fulfillment
of your Seeds to Branches pledges will be
credited only for the amount actually given,
and only within the year it is received by
Peace. Members and donors to Peace
Lutheran Church and Peace Foundation are
encouraged to wait on filing their 2016 federal
tax returns until they have received their
contributions statement in January from the
church. If you have questions about these, or
intend to bless the church with a
disbursement from your IRA, please contact
Peace Business Manager Mike Socier at
[email protected] or 793.9025, ext.
307.
Giving Tree: The Christmas Caring Needs
Tree in the church narthex is covered with
ornaments, itemizing gifts needed for people
at the Rescue Mission/Community Village.
Choose any of the gift tags, and then bring an
unwrapped gift and place it under the tree.
Take one of the red ribbons from the box and
hang it on the tree in place of the ornament.
By December 19, our Christmas Caring
Needs Tree should be covered with red bows,
and we’ll have lots of beautiful gifts to be
taken to the Rescue Mission/Community
Village! These items are not only used as
Christmas gifts, but are used throughout the
year.
Thanksgiving Thanks: A huge THANK YOU
for all of the generous contributions to our
Thanksgiving food collection! The response
was overwhelming! We were able to supply
Thanksgiving baskets/boxes and turkeys for
all Peace member requests, with enough left
over to share with Old Town and the Rescue
Mission. We pray God blesses you for your
faithfulness and generosity to both our
congregation and our community.
