I love spending time with Jesus as we journey thru His life. Luke investigated everything and wrote it down so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught, Luke 1:4 (NIV). The theme of this gospel could be simply stated – God’s love for sinners. How do we know that? We see Jesus interacting with the outcast, the bottom of the barrel if you will, tax collectors, lepers, women, foreigners, people who have stolen from others (Zacchaeus) and so many others that nobody else would give the time of day. That is why the stories of the good Samaritan and the prodigal son are found here in this gospel. Jesus came to seek and save the lost, Luke 19:10. From parables, to prayers to meeting people, the Gospel of Luke is truly a life changing gospel. Join me for this journey on Sunday mornings. It is so easy to do in the busyness of life. In the moment, we will praise God and then the days, weeks and months just move on. That is why I love Harvest Day. It is a moment to stop and thank God for His faithfulness thru the generations. To look back and say what a mighty God we serve, and to look ahead and say God, today, do great things as we move forward. We look back and sometimes we see valleys and we know God was with us and carried us, other times, we see mountaintop experiences and we know it was God who brought us to the heights. God knew we are forgetful people that’s why over 166 times God says remember! One of the most vivid examples in Joshua 4:5-7 Joshua said, "Go over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder…to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, 'What do these stones mean?' tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD…These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever." When we stop and remember God’s faithfulness, it will encourage us as we face the challenges of today. What a great weekend with the Rev. Shane Patrick and Martha, to remember God’s faithfulness thru the years, and the great things that lay ahead for First Baptist Church of Lancaster. Thanks to all who prayed fervently, who gave unselfishly, who serve so willingly and love greatly. By His Grace, Pastor Randy Hatcher

Harvest Day 2017

I have learned in life that people quickly forget the great things God has done. It is so easy to do in the busyness of life.
