Dear Fellow Brother Knights,

The Rosary is a sword which little by little cuts through the veil of darkness,

which blinds our society about the evils of abortion, euthanasia, etc.

I deeply urge all Knights to take up their swords daily and pray for the

conversion of the hearts of all our Brothers and Sisters who have fallen victim

to the lies of the pro-choice movement.

We are all victims, there are no winners !

Brothers and Families, join the Knights and the thousands of others from

throughout British Columbia on Thursday, May 10, 2012 for the Knights of

Columbus 5th Annual March for Life in Victoria, British Columbia.

Protect Human Life…over the action-packed day, participants will peacefully

share their deep commitment to Life…. from conception to natural death. Last but not least, I am delighted that we have continually seen growth in the

participation of our members in our service programs and appreciate the

sustained commitment of the new and the so many long time Knights and

Ladies to achieving our goals. This was apparent when our council received

five(5) recognition awards during the Knights of Columbus 101st Annual

British Columbia and Yukon State Convention held at Sheraton Vancouver

Airport Hotel in Richmond, British Columbia from April 27 to 29, 2012.

(please see page 12 of this newsletter) I would be slipshod in not mentioning the Mom’s out there, and how much we

appreciate all you do in keeping our Knights of Columbus Families moving.

The Added Value of LTC Insurance

As life expectancy increases, the number of people in need of long-

term care, in their homes or outside facilities, has grown also. Since

its addition to the Order’s product portfolio in 2000, long-term care

(LTC) insurance has provided the Order with an excellent

opportunity to further serve Knights and their families. Since 2005,

every Knights of Columbus long-term care policy comes with an

added value.

That added value is in the form of a service called “Provider

Pathway,” a program offering access to a network of long-term care

providers at discounted rates. The network covers: home health

care, personal emergency response systems, adult day care, assisted

living, skilled nursing facilities and durable medical equipment.

Eligibility for participation in this program is open to Knights of

Columbus long-term care insurance policyholders, their spouses,

dependent children, parents and parents-in-law. All providers

are fully credentialed and meet state licensing requirements.

If you are not currently an LTC policyholder, I suggest that we

schedule some time together so that I can provide additional

information on how you can avail yourself of this significant, value-

added benefit.

Each year, on the Fourth Sunday of Easter,

Knights throughout the world participate on

the annual World Day of Prayer for Vocations.

This day is an opportunity for all Knights to

raise awareness of the need for men and

women to say yes to their vocations, especially

if one is called to the priesthood or religious

life.

With the help of the Knights of Columbus,

thousands will hear their calls as a result of

our prayers and vocation materials.

As Knights, we know the difference that one

good priest can make.

A PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

Heavenly Father, bless Your Church with an

abundance of holy and zealous priests,

deacons, brothers and sisters.

Give those You have called to the married

state and those You have chosen to live as

single persons in the world the special graces

that their lives require.

Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that

in Him, with Him and through Him we may

love You more deeply and serve You more

faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary

we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

HERB WONG In less than a year, Brother Herb who joined the Knights of Columbus in May 30, 2011 has done

much to demonstrate his values to being a True Knight. He has actively participated in 4 Service Programs

Council (Membership Recruitment as Pulpit Announcer) Community (Monthly Pancake Breakfast),

Family (Golf Tournament), and Youth (Knights vs.Lifeteen Volleyball), to name a few.

In April 14, 2012, Brother Herb stepped up to Full Knighthood when he joined the 23 candidtes of Archbishop

Duke Council 6855 in the Major Degree (2nd

and 3rd

level) Exemplification.

For the past two(2) months, he took time out of his busy schedule from his wife and two children and

as a Procurement Manager in one of the biggest auctioneers in Canada, to be part of the selected few of Eight(8)

Knights and Ladies to entertain at the Friday ‘Football Blitz’ Night of the 101st

British Columbia and Yukon State

STAN and BARBARA LEONG

With full range of experience having been a Former District Deputy for 3 years and a Past Grand Knight from

2002 to 2004, Brother Stan Leong who joined the Knights of Columbus 22 years ago in February 01, 1990, has

continually been in service to the Order. Currently, he is in the Executive Office in the capacity of a Council

Lecturer whose responsibility is to provide suitable educational and entertainment programs by presenting

material for the Good of the Order section of council business meetings.

As a Fourth Degree Knight, he was in the task as a Guard Commander, Faithful Captain and is now the Faithful

Navigator Elect whose office will take effect in July 1, 2012.

Together with his wife Barbara, their lengthy service and dedication to the Order has earned them prestigious

awards from the British Columbia and Yukon State as District Deputy of the Year 2005, State Family of the Year

1994. On top of this, Brother Stan has received Council 6855 Awards for Iron Man of the Year 2010 and 1994,

Knight of the Year 1993, Family of the Year 1992 and many certificates of merit and appreciation.

Stan and Barbara who are long time parishioners of St. Paul Parish, have been involved in the various activities

of the parish community and the school, as well. Currently, they are involved in the Sunday Mass Collection

count.

Barbara’s immense support to her husband in all the various activities of the Service Programs of the Knights of

Columbus, has led her in assisting Brother Stan in the past six(6) months for his major responsibility as State

Convention Registration Chairman in the recently concluded 101st

British Columbia and Yukon State Convention.

Barbara’s countless and immeasurable patronage has been recognized when she was bestowed the

Archbishop Duke Council 6855 Lady of the Year 2010-2011.

Congratulations LEONG FAMILY and thank you for being a very great part of our Council 6855 !

Family Rosary Night (April 10, 2012) A drive to Ladner pave way to the Knights and Ladies heading to the Ripplinger’s residence for the monthly family rosary night hosted by Michael and Doreen. Each decade of the rosary was recited with Special Intention of Prayers. The reception which took place right after showcased an array of finger foods and desserts and a very warm heart from the host couple. 15 Knights/Wives were in attendance.

Major Degree Exemplification (April 14 , 2012) A District 23 Event hosted by St. Monica, Council 12861, there were 58 members from joint councils who went through the Degree Exemplification.

Twenty- Three(23) 1st Degree Members of Archbishop Duke Council 6855 stepped up to the next level of Knighthood and became a Full-Pledged Brother Knight at this Major Degree Exemplication.
