FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR C 12TH MAY 2019 Dear Parishioners, We celebrate this Sunday the Fourth Sunday of Easter. It is also called the Good Shepherd Sunday. The Gospel is about the Good Shepherd. Jesus is the True and Good Shepherd, and will not allow anyone to snatch from his care the sheep that belong to him. He will give them eternal life. In the Gospel, Jesus said: “The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one will ever steal them from me.” Listening to the voice and following Jesus is the necessary way to prove that we belong to the flock of the True and Good Shepherd, Jesus. The Good Shepherd Sunday has been the me to pray especially for the vocaon of priesthood and religious life. We remember our vocaon. We pray that there will be more and more young people generously responding to the vocaon of priesthood and religious life. We also pray for all those now living the ministerial life – priest, deacon, and those in religious orders – that they are always faithful to their vocaon and what they have chosen. We also encourage our young people, if we know anyone, to go forward with the ministerial vocaon they have explored, experienced and discerned. This Sunday is the Mother’s Day, a wonderful coincidence with the Good Shepherd Sunday. We can add a reflecon upon the ministry of shepherding to which mother is a meaningful example. Each of us has a mother who, in one way or another or in any means, takes care of us, loves us, helps us and journeys with us in life. From childhood to adolescence to mature age, mother always plays an important role on our life journey. We can never totally pay back to our mother what she has done for us. Memories and experiences about, from and with the mother, I guess, last forever. We should carry our mother in the heart always. There are a variety of ways we can think of to show mother our love and gratude. Mother’s Day is on again. It is the me to do something special to our mother. Let us keep a special prayer for all mothers who have gone to their rest, and for all living mothers in the world, parcularly those in tough situaons. It is also the me to say, with all our heart, to all mothers in our Ipswich Catholic Community: Happy Mother’s Day! May God bless us all!! John Hong !!! WELCOME TO THE IPSWICH CATHOLIC COMMUNITY !!! FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR C 12TH MAY 2019

Dear Parishioners,

We celebrate this Sunday the Fourth Sunday of Easter.

The Good Shepherd Sunday has been the time to pray especially for the vocation of priesthood and religious life. We remember our vocation. We pray that there will be more and more young people generously responding to the vocation of priesthood and religious life. We also pray for all those now living the ministerial life – priest, deacon, and those in religious orders – that they are always faithful to their vocation and what they have chosen. We also encourage our young people, if we know anyone, to go forward with the ministerial vocation they have explored, experienced and discerned.

This Sunday is the Mother’s Day, a wonderful coincidence with the Good Shepherd Sunday. We can add a reflection upon the ministry of shepherding to which mother is a meaningful example. There are a variety of ways we can think of to show mother our love and gratitude.

Mother’s Day is on again. It is the time to do something special to our mother. Let us keep a special prayer for all mothers who have gone to their rest, and for all living mothers in the world, particularly those in tough situations. It is also the time to say, with all our heart, to all mothers in our Ipswich Catholic Community:

Happy Mother’s Day! May God bless us all!!

Today is Good Shepherd Sunday, a day we traditionally pray for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. “Lord hear our prayers that you will inspire and call men and women to Religious Life, and young men to the Priesthood. We pray especially for vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood and to the Franciscan way of life.” You might like to repeat this prayer (or make your own), several times this week!

Loving and nurturing God, we thank you for mothers. For all they mean or have meant to us. We thank you for the love

they have shown and the care they have given.

For the many times they gave us hugs and held us close. Loving

and nurturing God we thank you for the qualities of mothers.

For their patience, their kindness, concern and understanding, in so many ways reflecting who you are. We thank you for the part

they play in our lives, and for this special day of saying ‘thank you’

to them.

Loving and nurturing God we thank you for the wonder of your mothering. As a mother protects her children,

you watch over us day by day.

We thank you for your arms which always encircle and protect us,

Your hands shield and deliver us from harm.

Loving God, we pray for those for whom Mother’s day brings

heartache rather than celebration.

We pray for those who have never known their mother or whose

mothers have died.

We thank you for your mothering heart and your tender love , Which nurtures all who feel abandoned and lost. We wait with

those who long to be mothers but as yet have not had their own children. We grieve with those who ache because they will never

be mothers.

We thank you for their mothering hearts which long to be expressed. Lord in your mercy, mother us all with your love.

We pray for those who struggle with the way their children have chosen to live their lives. And grieve with those who are orphaned

or have a difficult relationship with their mother. We thank you

that when we long for a mother’s love you do not abandon us.

Lord in your mercy, mother us all with your love.

May all of us have the comfort of knowing that your mothering love is constant, Your

understanding is perfect and your compassion is never-ending. We thank you that you gave birth

to all of us with delight and joy, Lord in your mercy mother us all with your love.

Amen.

Seeing God's Face in the Unexpected In the hours after Jesus’s birth Mary is doubtless tired and somewhat confused, far from the comfort of family and friends

other than Joseph. Shepherds burst into the place where the family is staying, bringing stories of angels singing praise to

the Lord about a newborn in a manger. Does Mary send them away? Does she burst into tears? No! She honours their

experience and the effort they have made to come to Bethlehem: “Mary

treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19). The face

of God was presented to Mary in both those situations, in one by an angel, in the

other by uneducated people who had little in material goods and may not have

owned even their own flocks. Yet she recognized the Lord in both, carefully

listening to his messengers, indifferent to the form in which they came. How

have you seen the face of God today? - from the book Blessed Are You: Finding
