A delightfully refreshing Merlot, the 2006 Happy Camper Merlot is a crowd favorite. On the nose, it delivers aromas of blackberry, plum, and spice. On the palate those flavors, along with currant, give way to luscious fruit that becomes supple, smooth tannins on the finish.

Happy Camper Wine Review

Enter Happy Camper — the first wine brand I’ve seen that caters to the RV/camping market. The name is brilliant, instantly memorable. The label is its equal, boasting an Airstream-like travel trailer, an aluminum-skinned towable nested somewhere amongst the California redwood trees. On the bottle neck sleeve are camping scenes of (hopefully sober) people canoeing, bicycling, and even piloting a motorboat. How can an RV enthusiast not remember a brand like Happy Camper?

Then there’s the wine. As I state in the video review, Happy Camper is a good wine. I daresay that if it were served in your glass at a fancy steak and lobster dinner (the kind with those exquisitely delicate chocolate souffles) you wouldn’t skip a beat. Happy Camper may draw you in with the label, but what’s inside the bottle will keep you coming back.

SAN MARTIN, Calif. – Happy Camper wine is a newly released brand that’s fits into an easy going lifestyle. It provides great packaging and immediate simplicity of product with its screw cap.

On a whimsical side, the most important aspect of this wine is just as it suggests, having fun in the great outdoors. Who doesn’t love a Happy Camper? According to the Wine Market Council’s president John Gillespie, domestic wine consumption grew for an 11th straight year, with a large part coming from this core age demographic.

This age group isn’t fascinated with who grew the grapes, who crushed and fermented the grapes, and who bottled the wine. This is a “grab n’go” generation with an eye toward the economy. According to author/keynote speaker Wally Boch of www.mondaymeno.net, “All in all, they seem to be an interesting mix of ambition and practicality, with a solid underpinning of values. One of their biggest worries is reducing debt. Sixty-three percent of the college graduates believe they'll have to make some sacrifices to achieve those goals they have.”
