Hans Boodt is proud to share our success during the Eu-roShop 2014 fair. The new collections consisted of the Changing Faces, Casual Friday, Leila, Fantasy, a Kids range, the new technically developed Flexfit and of course another eye catcher that drew lots of attention. Nobody expected anything less from Hans Boodt Mannequins; Robotics engineering took their presentation to a whole new level.

The Hans Boodt team, yet again for the 3rd time, set up the stand in a way that was too irresistible to pass by. The entrance, with a 3 step staircase could only be entered after gazing in awe at the 2 large windows on either side. Inside each window, 1 mannequin was presented. 2 robotic arms, very familiar in automotive industry, changed face shields on the mannequins in clockwork precision over and over again. These Changing Faces is also our latest collection and innovation, so we chose to use this collection as our showcase during EUROSHOP 2014.

Page 10: Hans boodt Magazine #7

The new catalog and newspaper were also available at the Hans Boodt stand. Our viewmaster retro gadget giveaway made many visitors go ‘ooooh’ and ‘aaaaah’, taking them back to their childhood. The slide inside was a 3D picture presentation of the collections including a Thank You note. A coffee bar with barista, Hans Boodt DJs playing music everyday at 16.00 hours, the whole team dressed in crisp white shirts with dark blue raw denim aprons created the atmosphere of Hans Boodt Mannequins.

The end result was a more than expected number of visitors, new leads for business, lots of meets & greets with current customers.

Milan was and is one of the world’s fashion capitals as well as being regarded as one of the top centres of industrial & modern design. Armani, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, the Pirelli Tower, Torre Velasca, Piero Manzoni were all influenced by the Milanese ambiance.

Leila is such a model. She is slightly strange and futuristic but also charming and alluring, making her awkward posing perfect for high-end fashion. She has a touch of the 1960s when Diana Vreeland ruled the world, but she also holds the 2030’s close at hand. A timeless form drifting back and forth between vogue and visionary.

REPETITIONSomehow visual repetition can be very fascinating to the eye. Repetition is already quite noticeable when only three mannequins are used. Adding even one more will certainly enhance this concept. Employing repetition creates such a high intensity that it is incomparable to any other method of presentation. Even though this concept has been used before, it will be mind-blowing every single time: it’s Eye Candy.

CREATING CHARACTERS

Creating Characters is what we do best. After weeks and sometimes months of preparation, market research, the resources of our imagination and careful focusing on the end result, Hans Boodt captures this creation process in words, images, mood boards and technical specifications to create a briefing for Hans Boodt Studio.

For every new mannequin developed, our design team first makes a clay model. This hands-on, clay modelling process becomes a 3D sketchpad of sorts, and can be adapted modified or completely transformed.

Only after testing and refining the last minute details, the clay model will be used to create the mould from which the mannequin will be born.

Creation process.

Mannequins come to life at Hans Boodt Mannequins. We understand the fashion industry and the constant need for progression and originality.

The company always uses a human model for the development of a mannequin. A ‘made-up’ mannequin can never look the way it should or as intended.

In a mannequin, all the personality that is commonly expressed through gestures must be translated into an unyielding form. On the other hand, the abstract models must communicate without those familiar visual expressions; gone are the eyes and other facial features. Instead, the mannequins are embodied with finely imagined and carefully manufactured gestures, poses and attitude: the width of a shoulder or an in-turned toe.

Once the full form has been moulded, the finishing touches are applied. This involves our brand’s specialists who determine the ideal aesthetic for make-up and skin, high gloss, matt, sanded, ribbed, aluminium look, covered with paper or the appearance of wood, almost anything is possible. Make up samples are then sent to the factory, where they are applied to the mannequins’ faces. It is this high quality detail, design, craft and finishing that will ultimately bring the models to life with warmth and allure.

‘We are young, innovative, creative, Dutch, rebbellious, customized, personal, experimental’. Indeed, it takes character to build characters.

HANS BOODT IN COLLABORATION WITH SCHWEITZER

The Schweitzer Department Store at EuroShop 2014.

In the future, we need to engage much more with the consumer and the customer and build up a closer contact. Customers should and want to be king! First and foremost, we need to become faster, newer, more creative and fresher – this means that in stores, there ought to be new products every week or even every day – and these products should always be presented in a new and inspiring way.

This is what Bernard Heiden (Interstore Design AG) and Marco Dionisio (Dioma Ag / Visual Marketing) want to display – and prove – with the Schweitzer stand concept at Euroshop to the well-informed and visually spoiled exhibition visitors from all over the world. The new surfaces in retail need to be extremely thrilling, dynamic, inspiring and surprising! A mix of lifestyle, fashion, food and magic!

The collaboration with Hans Boodt presented an ideal situation for all parties. At the EuroShop stand concept of the Schweitzer Department Store, the unique figures by Hans Boodt were spectacularly integrated into the concept and presented to the visitors.

“The huge enthusiasm and delight of the EuroShop visitors and guests at the Schweitzer stand could be seen and felt, which for us was the nicest compliment.“ Bernard Heiden and Marco Dionisio

SHOWROOMS

R OT T E R DA M

Any visitor to Hans Boodt Mannequins’ showroom will agree that this is what we call eye candy, a boost of creativity and ideas. Starting at the entrance and building up towards our 1000 m2 showroom.

All the other spaces are also used for displaying our mannequins. These total 1860 m2, divided over 3 floors of Visual Merchandising at its finest.

Even the workspace offices are immaculate in our presentation and atmosphere. Despite the fact that the spaces are huge, the use of bare natural sources, steel, wood & brick, gives the whole showroom a warm and comfortable feeling. The excellent lighting also plays an important role in this. Styling & restyling takes place approximately 2x per year, but because of its multiple dimensions it seems as if change takes place almost every day.

Brands & retailers can use this showroom for VM meetings. Presentations can be displayed on the large screen which can be docked onto any laptop.

Huge chandeliers, a piece of a construction as a prop and a fireplace makes this show-room one of the most beautiful showrooms of Visual Merchandising in Europe, perhaps even the World. Change is gonna come.

Our Dutch showroom located in the centre of Europe is definitely worth a visit. Paris, Milan, São Paulo, Santiago, Mexico, Tokyo and Kyoto are at your service too.Hans Boodt Mannequins accepts applications from potential partners in most countries. We will offer them every possible support to represent us.

HANS BOODT SUPPORTS

YOUNG TALENTS

YOUNG TALENT REIN REITSMA.

With this YOUNG TALENTS project, Hans Boodt offers young people a chance to translate their creativity into an image of imperfection. This inspires Hans Boodt: the contradiction, the stubbornness, the creation of one’s own reality and the malleability of character and identity.Meet Young Talent Rein Reitsma creator of Knaapje©.

During a school biology class, the weird human skeleton, with its clumsy posture and puzzled glance, was always able to distract me.Now that is exactly what has inspired me to design “Knaapje”©, a personalised mannequin.

THE ORIGIN OF

So I’ve always wanted to own such a biology skeleton! Then I realised that this was a project in its own right, designing a life-sized human skeleton.Apart from the fact that the skeleton really grabbed my attention, I also imagined using it as a coat rack or display because it has so many bones.

See page 149 for Knaapje.

I’m a hoarder: I have a need to collect every item which fascinates me in any way.All the things in this collection serve, either directly or indirectly, as my source of inspiration.

FANTASY BYHANS BOODT MANNEQUINSLovely & euphoric, these lovely mannequins will sweep you into their universe. A mind-trip to fairyland. Their pale porcelain skin color, almond shaped eyes with huge eyelashes and their pouted lips immediately overwhelm you with an angelic feeling.Their joints of these mannequins are strangely visible as in old- fashioned puppets, giving them a frail appearance. But beware... when these girls start to display their superpowers you will see how strong they really are.

These size 32 (UK size 4) realistic mannequins female should definitely be used on special occasions and for super sharp clothing. Or you can use their physical properties to turn commercial fashion into something completely stunning. The Fantasy collection is completely lifted above the standard realistic mannequins and is therefore unique and totally different from any other collection Hans Boodt has developed so far.
