Xi’an Hanova International School is an IB Continu-um School, fully authorized to offer the internation-ally renowned IB Primary Years Programme since 2017 (Early Years – Y6), IB Middle Years Programme since 2016 (Years 7-11) and IB Diploma Programme since 2014 (Y12 – Y13) – with 20 different Diploma subjects available to students. We are also an au-thorized Cambridge School, a center for SAT and ACT testing and a licensed center for the presti-gious Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award to develop youth leadership.

Primary Years ProgrammeFor students in Early Years to Year 6

Xi’an Hanova’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) en-sures that learning is engaging, relevant and chal-lenging in order to meet the diverse needs of each student. Xi’an Hanova school follows a transdisci-plinary model, where themes of global significance frame the learning throughout the primary years. Students are encouraged to make connections be-tween subject areas, and traditional curriculum ar-eas are used as lenses to help students inquire into big ideas and explore significant local and global issues.

Middle Years ProgrammeFor students in Years 7 to 11

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Pro-gramme (MYP) is designed to help international ed-ucation students aged 11 to 16 develop the knowl-edge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. Xi’an Hanova’s MYP is also adapted and enriched to better support this critical phase of personal and intellectual de-velopment of the students, complemented by per-sonal projects and community-oriented activities.

IB Diploma Programme (Y12 to Y13)For students in Years 12 and 13

Students joining Xi’an Hanova in Year 12 will under-take the full IB Diploma (IB DP) or may opt for the Hanova Diploma, which is still based upon the IB Diploma. The academic subjects and core compo-nents are exactly the same and are assessed accord-ing to official IB DP criteria, but with less subjects required for the Hanova Diploma. In addition, all Di-ploma students will participate in the Core Compo-nents of Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Community, Activity and Service (CAS). Students will receive official IB certification based upon what IB subjects and core components they have passed successfully.

Student Pastoral Care and Leadership

The development of values, personal character and life skills is fundamental to the active life of students at Xi’an Hanova. The Pastoral Head along with the teachers coordinates all the student leadership roles and groups: the Head Students, the House Leaders, the Student Representative Council and the Sport Leaders. Each of these bodies plays a role in ensuring that younger students have role models and that older students develop leadership poten-tial.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Xi’an Hanova offers extra-curricular events and activities ranging from arts to sports, from games to projects of academic interests. Students can ex-plore new interests, develop new skills and connect between age groups across the school in a relaxed learning environment.
