    ation of Luther's German Bible was pivotal in the establishment of the modern Swedish language. The translationion of the Swedish Reform clergymenLaurentius Andreae(Lars Andersson, 1470-1552),Olaus Petri(1493-1552)(1499-1573) with the blessing ofKing Gustav I or Gustav Vasa (1496-1560). The Bible's publication helped toRome and the central role of Lutheranism in Sweden which in turn strengthened his hold on power in a turbulent eious typographical undertaking ever attempted in Sweden, the trio of clergymen enlisted the aid of the German pri). As noted in his exhaustive work Swedish Books 1280-1967the scholar Sten G.     The binding (wood boards and leather) is in derelict condition, completely detached from contents with the spine tode margin which has resulted in some text loss of marginal summaries and minor but of course noticeable truncatitered inobtrusive very old manuscript notations throughout, some neat underlining and there is extensive pencil ns some dampstaining and soiling throughout, variable and mainly to top margin, not severe and in some sectionsorn and truncated in several places and also loose and detached from contents. Woodcut on verso of title page cuth woodcuts on this leaf are soiled. Following title page is a ten page foreword with Table of Contents for the Olduscript notations. This is followed by the Book of Genesis, the first page of which is torn and truncated as can be ereafter securely bound. Scattered short tears to margins are present throughout.
