Presidential Priority
……to invest in the cheapest, cleanest and most reliable energy technologies we have – energy
efficiency and conservation – which can be deployed immediately!

What is Energy?
Energy is the ability to do work.Important in order to maintain life functions Humans use energy to modify environment and work.Energy is measured by the amount of work it is able to doThe units for measure are British thermal units (Btu).Burning a blue tip kitchen match is roughly one BTUIt takes one BTU to heat 1 pound of mass 1 degree

Sources of Our Energy
Renewable – an energy source that we can use over and over again, and can be replaced naturally in a short period of time. The renewable energy sources include solar energy, which comes from the sun and can be turned into electricity and heat. Wind, geothermal energy from inside the earth, biomass from plants, and hydropower from water are also renewable energy sources
Non-renewable – an energy source that we are using up and cannot recreate in a short period of time.

Enterprise Energy Efficiency Solution
The foundational first step in cutting energy cost is to track your
energy data and utility bills.
“What gets measured, gets managed.”
PeJas Inc.PeJas Inc. 37
Enterprise Energy Efficiency Solution • Cost reduction: eliminate waste, spot problems
• Improved bill payment processes
• More relevant reporting
• Carbon tracking and reporting
• ENERGY STAR interface obtains building ratings
accurate budgets and accruals
Most users report that the software pays for itself in
under a year.

60
Energy Conservation Product Fulfillment
The electric cooperatives of South Carolina wanted everyone to "Do the Light Switch." Each residential co-op member received, by mail, two compact fluorescent light bulbs, valuable information, and a container that can be used as a coin bank for members to 'bank' the savings they'll realize by switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs. Approximately 1.2 million CFL bulbs began arriving at electric cooperative-served homes in South Carolina. 61
