Guide on how to Setup your Mercy College Exchange ActiveSync email on Samsung S4 and S4 Mini with Android version 4.4.2

In order to set up a Microsoft Exchange or Office 365-based email account on the Samsung

Galaxy S4 Mini running Android 4.4.2, launch Settings from the launcher and tap on the

tab:

Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Here you will need to enter your Mercy College email

address and Password. Once you enter your credential, select Send email from this account by

default then tab on Next.

NOTE: If you check Send email from this account by default the device will use this email to

reply and send email as default. If your device is a personal one you do not need to check this

option.

Enter your email address and password and tap next. The device will attempt to determine the

correct connection settings to use automatically. If the wizard is not able to determine these

settings, you will be prompted to enter them manually:


The Domain and Username will usually be the same as that used to log into your Windows PC,

consult your IT department if unsure.

The Exchange Server address is outlook.office365.com, again consult the Helpdesk if unsure.

Once all required settings have been completed, tap Next. The following will be displayed:


Tap OK, the following window will be displayed:

Select the items you wish to synchronize, how much and how often. Tap Next. You will be

prompted to authorize the account to apply policy settings to your device (use of a password, is

required by Mercy College IT Services):


Tap Activate

Finally give the email account a name to identify it.

Your mailbox data will now synchronize based on the selections you made earlier. To edit the

settings further, launch the Email program. Tap on the Menu button and select Settings:


Here you can change general settings governing the behavior of the email program for all email

accounts. Tap on Account Settings to view a list of configured email accounts, and then on that

account entry to edit the settings of that account:


Under Sync Settings you can adjust the size of email messages to download, how far back into

the past to sync mail and during what hours of the day to check for mail, you can also change

your Password as the system will require you to change it every 90 days.

NOTE: Password change: You only change Password once you have successfully change your

password via Mercy Pass https://www.mercy.edu/my-mercy/it-support/mercypass/

You can turn your out of office on and off and edit your reply message:


Under More Settings you can further adjust how much data is downloaded in terms of images

and attachments, you can adjust how far back into the past the calendar synchronizes data, you

can adjust which data is synchronized, and also edit the server details:
