The Grundy Center Community School District met in regular session on Wednesday, Decem- ber 21, 2016 in the High School IMC. President Ascher called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM. Roll Call: Present: Ascher, Gordon, Johanns, Saak, Mackie Absent: Administration: Jerry Schutz, Brian Sammons, Kristin Sheffield, Dan Breyfogle Visitors: Chad VanWechel, Heather Gutknecht, Will Barnes, Bob Munson The board recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion made by Director Mackie, seconded by Director Saak to approve Agenda. Motion car- ried unanimously. President Ascher welcomed Chad VanWechel to speak on the lawn mowing bid. Motion made by Director Saak, seconded by Di- rector Mackie to approve the Consent Agenda approving the minutes from the11/16/16 Regu- lar Meeting along with bills presented for pay- ment, personnel actions and donations. Thank you to Green Belt Bank and Heavy Equipment for your generous donations to our district. Mo- tion carried 4 to 1, Saak-Aye, Ascher-Aye, Mackie-Aye, Johanns-Aye, and Gordon-Nay. The board was given an opportunity to ask questions on the department reports given by Mr. Schutz, Mr. Sammons, Mrs. Sheffield, Mr. Breyfogle and Mr. Wagner. Mr. Schutz presented the district update from the Cedar Valley West. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION: The Grundy Center Dance team had a strong showing at State Dance with 1st place in Poms, 2nd place in Military, and 2nd place in Props. Mr. Sheffield shared that all five students that took the PSAT test qualified for National Merit Scholarship. Mr. Munson gave a presentation on Smarter Balanced. Construction update on the new gym was pre- sented. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION: Motion made by Director Gordon, seconded by Director Mackie approved the Amendment for The River Hills Consortium Agreement. Mo- tion carried unanimously. Motion made by Director Saak, seconded by Director Gordon to approve the early gradua- tion of Ashtun O’Rourke. Motion carried unan- imously. Motion made by Director Gordon, seconded by Director Mackie approved Tender Lawn Care for lawn and fertilizer care for the Spring/Summer of 2017. This is a one year agreement. FREDDRICK MOORE, age 31, Waterloo, was arrested December 13, at 11:00 PM on Hwy 20 at the 195 mile marker on a Black Hawk County war- rant charging him with FAILURE TO APPEAR. Released to Black Hawk County authorities. Arrested by GRUNDY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE. CODY IZER, age 20, Iowa Falls, was arrested December 14 at 7:15 PM in Wellsburg and charged with OWI 2nd, DRIVING WHILE LICENSE BARRED, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A PRESCRIPTION DRUG and two counts DRIVING WHILE LICENSE REVOKED.
