Who We Are

n GreenShoots is a boutique technology and operational consulting Firm mainly focused in providing operational solutions to financial services companies, particularly Alternative Investments firms and Hedge Funds.

n The beginnings for these type of ventures are always difficult and its easy to fall under the temptation to purchase software packages off the shelve, only to realise that, in the end, are to complicated and costly to maintain.

n Another way is to use traditional systems that everybody feels comfortable using, like Excel to store data and reporting or Outlook to distribute information and to communicate. Although these apps are very good, they are not designed to support the exponential needs of a Fund or Management Company and they very difficult to escalate.

n GreenShoots offers its clients the development of an Operational Framework with the clear objective to achieve Long Term Operational Alpha. We develop applications, databases and processes tailored to the client needs. These developments are always scalable and able to accommodate future growth, all with a very competitive level of service and pricing.

Leadership

n In 2004, he moved to Madrid to work for Vega Asset Management in the Middle Office and Valuations area where he had the opportunity to design and develop new and innovative Operational Risk management tools and to redesign and optimise various work flows. Among other attributions, he became the Pricing Manager for the Vega Funds.

n In 2007 he participated in the set up of Proxíma Alfa, a joint venture between Vega and BBVA. In Proxíma Alfa he became an integral piece for the development of a Trading Control and Investment management system. He was also involved in the launch of several Hedge Funds in various jurisdictions.

n GreenShoots was created in 2009 by Carlos Salinas, an Independent Consultant specialised in Operation Risk, Technology Solutions applied to the financial sector and Asset and Portfolio Valuation techniques

n Carlos hold a 2:1 BSc Financial Economics by Birkbeck College, University of London.

n Worked at Merrill Lynch from 2001, were he held various responsibilities in areas like Financial Controlling, Prime Brokerage and Futures and Options. He also participated in various projects involving systems decommissioning, migrations and process flow reengineering.
