A note from the Director of

Camp & Retreat Ministry

Dear Camp Friends:I am delighted to share with you the exciting programs that the Camp & Retreat Ministry staff have created for you, your children, and your family for 2015. This brochure shares with you all the events that will be happening January through December. It is my hope and prayer you will stay connected or reconnect to the Camp & Retreat program this year, as some wonderful things have been planned. The Camp & Retreat Ministry program of the Susquehanna Conference provides a safe environment for children, youth, and adults to experience Christian community. Whether you receive Christ through a camp or retreat experience or whether you come for growth, renewal, or reconnection, the Holy Spirit is waiting for you. Camp is helping children and youth prepare for adulthood. They learn to work as a team within their family groups. They learn resilience. Daily they are making decisions as to how they will spend their time — from what they will eat, to the activities in which they will participate. They learn to try new things in a safe environment. These are all ways that are helping children and youth grow in their faith. We look forward to serving you at one of our Camp & Retreat sites in 2015.

ABOUT GREENE HILLSSurrounded on three sides by Rothrock State Forest, Greene Hills is located in Huntingdon County near the small village of Barree. Campers are housed in 9-person cabins with a centrally-located bathhouse in the Summer Camp area, or in the Manor, a large lodge with sleeping facilities for 38 campers. Swim in the pool adjacent to the Manor, play soccer on the recreation field, go tubing in the Little Juniata River, hike up to Cathedral Meadows, or try out the 600 square-foot climbing wall in the Barn. Also be sure to check out our RV Park & Family Campground, which is located on the banks of the Little Juniata River. It is open April 1st through October 31st and has 64 sites: 56 with water and electric hook-up, and 8 rustic tent camping sites.

GH2 CHILDREN’S MUSICAL THEATER CAMP

GRADES 3-6 JUNE 21-27It’s a different week and a different name, but the same great camp!! Join us as we perform the children’s musical “God with a Capital G,” the Old Testament story of the prophets of Baal vs. Elijah and the one true God. And of course we will learn about and experience God’s love for us as we live together for the week! We will perform our musical three times – Friday afternoon at an area nursing home, Friday night in the barn for the camp staff and local folks, and Saturday morning for parents and families. Registration is from 2:30 – 4:00 Sunday afternoon, June 21. Camp ends with our closing performance at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, in the camp barn for your parents when they come to pick you up. GH8 GRANDS MAKING MEMORIES -

GRANDPARENTS & MEAGE 5- GRADE 3 JULY 16-18Grandparenting is like shooting an arrow into the future. We “boomers” have redefined grandparenting: our engagement is much more intense than in past generations as we crave intimacy and connection with our grandchildren. Grandparents today spend $57 billion on their grandchildren each year. Why not spend money on “Grandparents and Me” camp registrations for shared time and experiences, one of the best gifts you can give each other? “Grands Making Memories” is an intergenerational experience that includes Bible study of stories of Jesus, fossil finding, swimming, rock wall climbing, and S’More. The activities of this camp afford unique grandchild-grandparent, one-on-one time in the context of the Christian community. We will be comfortably housed in the Greene Hills Manor House. Registration is at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, and camp ends at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18.

DAVE & JEAN NORRIS$130

GH7 FIDDLER AT GREENE HILLS - MUSICAL

THEATER CAMPGRADES 7-12 JULY 12-18“Fiddler at Greene HIlls” Join us for Jr/Sr High Musical Theater Camp and explore the meaning of tradition with the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof, Jr! We’ll experience Jewish worship rituals and relate them to our Christian practices. Plus, we’ll look at faith and life from a Wesleyan perspective as we read scripture through the eyes of tradition, reason and experience. Our week focuses on rehearsal and preparation for two performances of Fiddler on the Roof, Jr. on Friday night and Saturday morning. Every camper gets a special part in the show! Take a break from practice with swimming, games, rockwall, campfires and other traditional camp activities. Registration begins on Sunday at 2 p.m. and parents should plan to join us for the 9 a.m. Saturday show and head home with your camper around 11 a.m. Fiddler on the Roof Jr. is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theater International (MTI).

GH11 GOD OF WONDERSGRADES 3-5; 6-9 AUGUST 2-7Join us for this week-long adventure where we will experience the wonder of God! Scale the climbing wall, make friends in cabin and family unit groups, and make great memories around the campfire or watching the sunset at Cathedral Hill. One of the things that makes this week of camp unique is the opportunity for a wide range of campers (grades 3-5 and 6-9) to enjoy this experience together. Each year, we have added another year onto the top end of our age range in order to build some loyalty to this week of camp. This summer, our oldest of campers will be housed in The Manor, but there will still be many opportunities for the whole group to worship, eat, and play together. This camp will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday and end with a program at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

www.susumcamps.orgTo register for camp, visit www.susumcamps.org and click on the camper registration link provided or fill out the form on page 11.

Why register online? It’s fast, easy, and the best way to guarantee your camper gets into the camp session that fits your family and church calendar. Once you register and pay, your camper is in. If you need to change your camper’s session later, a session transfer can usually be made at no extra cost ... as long as space is available in the session you want.

The registration form can also be downloaded from the website, completed, and signed by a parent or guardian (required), and mailed together with a 50% deposit (checks made payable to Susquehanna Conference or fill in credit card information). Registrations will be processed in the order they are received, but by then the camp may be full!

NOTE: Additional registration materials may be requested by contacting the Camping Office at [email protected] or by calling 1-800-874-8474 ext. 3602.
