Pope Francis: “Protect Life!”!"In the end, everything has been entrusted to our protection, and all of us are responsible for it. Be protectors of God’s gifts! Whenever human beings fail to live up to this responsibility, whenever we fail to care for creation and for our brothers and sisters, the way is opened to destruction and hearts are hardened. Tragically, in every period of history there are “Herods” who plot death, wreak havoc, and mar the countenance of men and women. Please, I would like to ask all those who have positions of responsibility in economic, political and social life, and all men and women of goodwill: let us be “protectors” of creation, protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment." !! Homily of Pope Francis at his Mass of Installation, March 19, 2013 !

On May 27, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church
It’s easy to remember when I met her: I was serving as a deacon in Massena, just a month or so before my priestly ordination in August of 1997. That’s when Sister Maureen Sweeney came here, to begin her work as Pastoral Associate at St. Mary’s. After 21 years of invaluable service in Massena, Sister Maureen
will be transferred to Watertown, where she will take up residence at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse.
Sister will assist with hospital and senior housing visitations and other pastoral work, to include offering spiritual direction for those who seek it. Please pray for Sister Maureen at this time of transi-tion, and join me in thanking Sister for her gift of presence and service in Massena over the years. There will be a reception, so that people can come share with Sister a word of farewell ! and thanks ! on Sunday, June 24, after the 11:00am Mass, at the St. Mary’s
Social Hall. ! ! ! ! ~Fr. Mark!

Today’s second collection supports Catholic Communication Campaign and Catholic University of America. The Communication Campaign connects people with the Good News of Christ, here and around the world. The Catholic University of America was established in 1887 as the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States. Onethird of the collection remains in our diocese for local com-munication efforts, onethird assists the communica-tion work across the United States and the final third supports the Catholic University of America in Wash-ington D.C. !
Thank you for your support!!

Dear Parishioners,! As you can see, in anticipation of all Parish contribu-tions coming together when we become St. Peter’s Parish, we will be reporting one total from now on.!! In addition to how we report our collections in the bulletin, we will also have some changes in business transactions. !It will soon be time for the financial accounts of both parishes to be merged. ! Our bank made us aware !that all checks for deposit from parishioners should be filled out as follows!
! Until June 30th, 2018, fill in the name of the church that you wish your deposit to go to. !
! On July 1st and thereafter, the check must be written out to “St. Peter’s Parish”.!
! We are being told that if checks are not made out in such a way, the bank will!not accept them, and will return them to the parish office. Thank you in advance for helping us to make the transition as smooth as possible.!God Bless you for your generosity,!
