Grating Products
Serrated Grating Has a serrated edge bar for enhanced anti-slip properties. Serrated load bars are not available for 20mm deep grating.
Note: For sloping walkways 10mm x 10mm square bar can also be welded on the top of the grating to meet requirements of AS1657.
How to Specify Grating ProfilesWhen ordering, use the code break up below to detail your chosen grating profile:
Our grating consists of load-bearing bars in a variety of depths and thickness’s, with lateral restraint provided by 6mm square twisted crossbars. These are then forge-welded to the upper edges of the load-bearing bars, producing a product of one-piece construction with a high strength to weight ratio, which in turn meets the requirements of Australian Standard AS1657.
Below are examples of applications where grating can be used:
 Power plants
 Petrochemical facilities
 Mining operations
 Industrial construction
 Ship building
Paper mills transportation (highway and rails)
 Wastewater treatment plants
 Metallurgical plants
 Communication facilities
Commercial facilities and other commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects
 Flooring in corrosive locations
We can supply grating in standard and fabricated panels or customised to project specifications, ready for immediate installation.
Types of GratingOur grating is available in either a plain surface for standard applications or serrated, often utilised when higher slip resistance is required.
Plain (Standard) Grating Has a plain edge load bar and twisted cross rods.

Expanded Metal Floor Plate 10x10sq BarGrating can also be supplied with flattened expanded metal welded to the underside to prevent tools and small objects from falling through.
How to order:1. Select your grating.
2. Decide on material type, and finish/coating if required.
3. Select a required expanded mesh profile. The most common profile is EX1220F (Flattened).
Grating can be supplied with a 5mm floor plate welded to the top.
This option is used in applications such as wet areas where water is directed to a specific drainage location.
How to order:1. Select your grating.
2. Decide on material type, and finish/coating if required.
3. Select floor plate.
Grating can be offered with 10x10sq bar welded at 300mm centres (nominal). This is ideal on walkways, with an incline of 7 degrees or greater as it will reduce the chance of slipping.
This option is also beneficial as it meets the requirements of AS1657.
How to order:1. Select your grating.
2. Decide on material type, and finish/coating if required.
3. Request square bar.

Let us do the Hard WorkBy sending through your floor plan, our experienced estimating team will provide you with a detailed marking plan and panel drawings for your final approval. Our team is committed to working closely with you on every project regardless of size to ensure we offer you the most economical layout which in turn saves you time and money.
Design CriteriaAll safe load tables were calculated in accordance with the following criteria:
1. Loading code AS1170-1 (load combination 1.25 x dead load and 1.5 x live load)
2. Steel structures code AS4100
3. Mass calculated on untreated and un-edged grating
4. Minimum yield strength of steel 260 MPa
5. Load calculated with allowable bending stress of 171.6 MPa (0.66 Fy)
6. Load bars assumed to be simply supported and unserrated
7. Spans based on maximum 5mm deflection, which is a limiting deflection for pedestrian comfort

Ready to order? Please have tread size & quantity required ready before you do.
Our fibreglass grating treads are made to order and can be manufactured to suit your requirements.
These treads are manufactured with the attributes of a T5 grating step tread.
Fibreglass grating treads are the perfect solution when the treads are required to be:
 Corrosion resistant
 Strong
 Fire resistant
Note: Stock panels available in an industry standard size of 310 x 3660mm.
Fibreglass Step Treads
Fixing AccessoriesFRP Clip – 316 Stainless SteelOur EX Clip in 316 Stainless Steel is the most common method of securing fibreglass grating to the structural supports. Using a minimum of 4 clips per m2, the clips are installed from the top of the fibreglass grating.
Our fibreglass grating is a one mesh pattern utilising a 38x38mm grid, with an open area of 70%. The 6mm load-bearing bars mean that our fibreglass grating is bi-directional, so no load bar direction is required, making it a simple yet versatile flooring option.
Our fibreglass grating is available in either 25mm or 38mm thick and can also be supplied with a diamond cover or gritted top when greater traction is required.
Benefits of Fibreglass: Strength vs weight – Fibreglass grating is light-weight yet still retains its ability to evenly distribute applied loads to adjoining bars
 Non-sparking, non-magnetic and non-conductive
Easy to cut on site using standard cutting tools
 Corrosion resistant
No load bar direction required (bi-directional)
