nThe University of San Jacinto takes root in history and tradition. Since the school’s opening in 1852, it has grown to include over ten degree programs with vari-ous concentrations and eight nationally ranked sports teams. At the University of San Jacinto we strive for success.

The university logo and the use of the star are influenced by the rich history of Houston, Texas as well as the monument for the famous battle at San Jacinto.

A brand is every association and experience, both active and intentional. It is how people feel and think about things. In our case, it is how people feel and think about the University of San Jacinto. It is the awareness and relevance of our university in the minds of students, faculty, staff and the community.

A brand is built not only through effective communications or appealing logos, it is built through the total experience that it offers. Our visual identity is simply a reflection of our brand.

This guide has been developed for use by all academic, research, outreach, student services, authorized student organizations and administrative units of the University of San Jacinto funded through or by the university that are not legally autonomous. All such units must follow these guidelines. Outside agencies or publishers that create print or electronic publications, or any other materials, for any University of San Jacinto units are also required to abide by the guidelines. The guidelines are to be applied to all uses of our marks, whether for advertising, signage, stationery, uniforms, vehicles, or the countless other items that carry the University of San Jacinto brand to the world.

A strong and consistent visual identity helps shape the way key constituents view our university, both now and in the future. That visual identity begins with this University of San Jacinto Graphics Standards Manual. This manual will help the University of San

Color is essential to the University of San Jacinto style. This selected palette provides a foundation for color consistency across diverse types of applications and layouts.

These primary identity colors evolved from University of San Jacinto’s historic palette, creating a rich and seamless tie to heritage.

Black and White may be used when the primary identity colors are not available.

Since differences in substrate and process can affect color, the CMYK

equivalents provided at left are guidelines only and should not be considered to pro-vide an exact match. To ensure consistent results, always proof carefully against the PANTONE Coated Color Standard.

Note: Colors shown throughout this manual are for demonstration purposes only. For accurate color standards, refer to the current edition of the PANTONE Color Formula Guide.

The logo should always be surrounded by a buffer of white space from text and the edge of the page. The space needed is relative to the height of the mark. The space marked with the ‘X’ indicates the clear space that should be left around the logo. It should be no less than 50% of the height of the mark. All graphic elements, pictures, and typography should fall outside the red border at all times.

University apparel is essential to the University of San Jacinto identity. The logo may appear on any university approved apparel such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hoodies, and all uniform apparel for employees and athletics. All standard guidelines for printing the logo must be followed. The logo must never appear below one inch in size and it must never be unreadable in any circumstance due to color, patterns, or other designs. The logo must also never appear sideways, such as on water bottles and sweatpants, the mark becomes too hard to read.

Athletic apparel is also key to spreading the University of San Jacinto identity. Our athletics team represent our university at meets and games, both home and away. It is crucial that any uniforms and/or athletic apparel be distinctly different from other universities and that our university marks, both academic and athletic, be displayed. The visibility of our marks should not be unreadable or not visible against decoration, pattern, or disrupted by other marks and graphics.

Any item that appears with the university logo may not disrupt the visibility of the logo. Only the university approved colors may be used with the logo. All guidelines for the logo must be followed whether the material is printed or embroidered.
