THE CITY #THECITY#

Granada, the Spanish word for themythical fruit Pomegranate, typifies thiscity that is a blending of ancient andmodern cultures, old and modern lifestyles.Granada lies in the center of Andalucia, theheart of Moorish Spain, which is a fusing ofits Islamic past and its Spanish present.

This fusing of cultures is evident in thehaunting sounds of Flamenco, a genre ofmusic and dance, whose lingeringimpressions and frantic footsteps echothrough the corridors and narrowalleyways of this city. The hypnotic soundsof Flamenco express the haunting passionand sorrow of being alive, the rawness oflife. This music is truly the muse ofAndalucia.

Granada is a charming city, vibrant withthe music of Flamenco, sumptuous tapas, and local people who really know how toenjoy life. It has the dance-till-dawnnightlife of a big city with the comfortableclose-knit feel of a small town with manycozy local bars and cafés. It is possible toexplore the city on foot, and the best wayto inhale the life in Granada, as theshadow of the Alhambra guards you. Thepace of life here is different. Get used tolong leisurely lunches, and decadentafternoon naps called siestas. All ofGranada sleeps during this time, so it’sdifficult to avoid becoming part of the lifeand routine here.
