Finish
Have players pick cards, move that many spaces, and solve the subtraction problem. If correct, they remain on the new square. If incorrect, they return to the square they left. First player to reach “Finish” wins.
CHAPTER 3
Match to Add
You will need:
18 index cardsmarkers
Write these addition and subtraction facts, one per card.
3 + 5 = 8 8 - 3 = 5 2 + 6 = 8 8 - 6 = 2 6 + 0 = 6 2 + 8 = 10
3 + 4 = 7 7 - 4 = 3 5 + 2 = 7 7 - 5 = 2 6 - 0 = 6 10 - 8 = 2
4 + 5 = 9 9 - 5 = 4 2 + 7 = 9 9 - 2 = 7 8 + 1 = 9 9 - 1 = 8
Mix the cards. Place them facedown in 3 rows with 6 cards in each row.
The first player takes 2 cards. If the cards show related facts, the player keeps them and takes two more cards. If the cards do not show related facts, the player places them facedown again. The next player takes a turn.
When all of the cards have been matched,
8 - 3 + 5 3 + 5 = 8
the player with more cards wins.
CHAPTER 4
Subtraction Action
You will need:20 index cardsmarkers
Write each subtraction problem on an index card.
8 - 3 = 8 - 5 = 8 - 6 = 8 - 2 = 6 - 6 =
9 - 4 = 9 - 5 = 9 - 3 = 9 - 6 = 6 - 0 =
10 - 2 = 10 - 8 = 10 - 4 = 10 - 6 = 11 - 3 =
12 - 5 = 12 - 7 = 12 - 4 = 12 - 8 = 11 - 8 =
Place cards facedown in 4 rows with 5 cards in each row.
Player 1 draws 2 cards and solves the subtraction problems. If the cards show related subtraction facts, the player keeps them and takes another turn. If the cards do not show related subtraction facts, place them facedown.
Draw cards until all cards have been matched. The player with the most cards wins.
CHAPTER 5
Tens and Some More
You will need:number cubepiece of paper or dry erase board pencil or dry erase marker
Draw the place value chart on a piece of paper or a dry erase board .
onestens
Player 1 rolls the number cube and writes the number in the tens column. Player 1rolls again and writes the number in the ones column.
Player 2 takes a turn and writes the numbers on the chart under Player 1’s numbers.
Compare the numbers. The player that rolled the greater number gets a point. Both players get a point if the numbers are equal. The first player to reach 10 points wins the game.
CHAPTER 6
Math Racers
You will need:8 index cardsa marker2 game pieces
Square 1 10 –0 = 10
5 + 6 = 11
1 + 2 = 3 1 + 11 = 129 –6 = 3
5 – 4 = 16 + 6 = 12 8 + 3 = 11
9 – 5 = 4 20 –10 = 109 + 3 = 12
10 – 3 = 7
5 + 7 = 12 12 – 5= 7 11 –4 = 7
4 + 6 = 10 10 – 3 = 7
Finish Line
You win!

Go to theclosest squarewith a differenceof 0
10 –10 = 0
Write numbers 1 through 5 on index cards. Draw a star, a sun, and an arrow, one symbol per card, on the remaining cards. Place them in a stack facedown. Copy and enlarge the game board above.
Player 1 takes a card and moves the number of spaces on the card or moves to the symbol on the card.
Player 1 solves the problem in the box. Player 2 takes a turn.
Players race to reach the finish line.
CHAPTER 7
Graphing the Game
You will need:
20 index cards • marker • pencils
Write each number on an index card: 0, 0, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Copy and enlarge the game board and bar graph below. Give each player a bar graph.
Place cards facedown. Draw cards and move that many places in any direction, in straight lines. Draw a 0 card, lose a turn.
Fill in the , , , symbols on the bar graph that match the squares landed on. Take turns. The player who lands on the most s wins.

What Are Your Measurements?
You will need:paper crayons or markers pencil connecting cubes paper clips
Draw a picture of yourself. Leave room to write measurements around it.
Exchange drawings with your partner.
Use cubes and paper clips to measure the widths and the heights of the pictures.
Write your measurements on

CHAPTER 9
Shape Tic-Tac-Toe
You will need:4 index cardsmarkers
Draw these shapes on the index cards, one shape per card:
Shuffle the cards and place them facedown.
Players choose an X or an O.
Pick a card and find a shape on the game board that is the same. Mark the box with an X or an O.
The first player to get 3 Xs or Os in a row wins.
CHAPTER 10
Concentration with
Three-Dimensional Shapes
You will need:12 index cards
Draw these three-dimensional shapes on 4 index cards. Then, write the name of each shape on 4 additional index cards. On the last 4 index cards, write the number of faces and vertices for each of the shapes.
Shuffle the cards and place them facedown on the table.
Player 1 turns 3 cards faceup. If the cards match, Player 1 keeps them and takes another turn. If they do not match, Player 1 turns the cards facedown. Player 2 takes a turn.
Continue playing until all of the cards are gone. The player with the most cards wins the game.
