The Korea OCW Consortium(KOCWC)in Collaboration with Universities in Korea
and beyond
Working with universities in Korea and beyond
Step 1 : Building a Consensus for OCW in Korea
The KOCWC and KACTL (Korean Association of Centersfor Teaching and Learning) collaborate each other to create an open culture for OCW.
The KOCWC effectively stresses the need for an open culture in post secondary educational institutions among member universities.
So far, 20 universities have been formerly reinstated as KOCWC members this year and additional 9 ACE universities to be joined next month.

Step2: Working with ACE Universities
An Example: Handong Global University: Global L.I.F.E: Global Life-forming Innovative Fusion Education
• Create specializations within academic disciplines• Give students several opportunities to take part in academic
research or join a research association• Increase its support for its well-established global volunteer
outreach programs
• Home of the Korea OCW Consortium•The UNESCO-UNITWIN Hosting University• Global Hub for UNAI Principle 5:Capacity-building in HE systems

Step 3 : Building UNESCO Support for OCW beyond Korea to the Developing World
Working with universities in Korea and beyond
The goals of UN Academic Impact are in line with KOCWC’s attempt to involve the developing world.
As the UNESCO-UNITWIN hosting university, Handong is now branching beyond Korea to open OCW in developing countries.
The KOCW Consortium at Handong plans to support professors in Kenya, East Africa region and China to start uploading lectures through OCW, with the help of UNESCO.
Step 3: Promoting OCW for East Africa in Kenya
Working with universities in Korea and beyond
KOCWC will work together with Handong Global University who will hold a conference on OCW for the developing world as a part of the 10 day long “Global Entrepreneurship Training” Program in East Africa during July 2011.
