Starting in 2016, this scholarship will be awarded annually to Gorge high school seniors, pursuing post secondary degrees in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Students graduating from high school or home school or receiving a GED in the spring/summer from Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Skamania and Klickitat counties are eligible to apply. The scholarship application is now available at http://crgta.org/ scholarship .Details on application requirements and submission are included. Application deadline is April 1, 2016. You can also find more information on Corwin Hardham and how to donate to the Corwin Hardham Memorial Scholarship fund at the website. Nine Area FTC Teams Advance to SQs Congratulations to the nine Gorge FIRST TECH Challenge teams that made it to the Oregon SuperQualifiers (SQs)! Teams competed in League Championships on January16 at Hood River Valley High School. The teams heading to the SQs on February 13 & 14 are the Bazinga! Bots, SaBOTAge, and KillaBots from The Dalles High School; Occam's Razor, SteelHead, Men in Green, and the FigNewtons from Hood River Valley High School; the RoboHawks from Horizon Christian; and The Shermanators from Sherman County JrSr High School. GTA Announces 2016 Corwin Hardham MemorialScholarship Application

Feb 4: CEO Excellence Forum ­ Round table discussionThe GTA's next meeting of the CEO Excellence Forum isscheduled for next Thursday. Upper level management andCEOs within the GTA's tech companies are invited to this roundtable discussion to share information and build connections. Feb 9: Gorge Cloud Application Developers GroupThe first meeting of 2016 launches a new topical thread ­business data analysis. Ron Ellis Gaut of CSGPro will providethe latest news on Microsoft PowerBI and SQL Server 2016,which they are leveraging to build new customer applications. Ifyou are familiar with PowerBI, you know that its roots are asadd­ins that enable Excel to handle millions of records via thePowerPivot in­memory tabular database. Last year a newdesktop version of PowerBI integrating all of these tools(PowerPivot, PowerQuery, and PowerView) in one wasreleased, and the ability to publish "content packs" to the Azurecloud for end user consumption was expanded. Microsoft isreleasing new functionality and updates every month for thesetools. Further, most of these tools are free.
