Background

In this issue we have tried to cover the Internet presence

through the medium of website of various Government

Departments, Boards, Corporations, HoDs, Collectorates,

etc. This will help in creating awareness and doing a

critical review of the various Government of Gujarat

related websites.

Introduction

Government of Gujarat is keen to move ahead on the

path of e-governance. Government of Gujarat has in

place excellent IT Infrastructure in place due to

Sachivalaya & GSWAN Networks. Internet has opened

the flood gates of information through the convenient

medium of Website. Having a presence on the Internet

through website has become almost inevitable, be it a

Private Sector Company or a Government Undertaking.

Website is the most convenient way for citizens to access

the required information from the Government. Thus

creation of website and regular updation can be

considered one of the key areas in marching towards e-

governance.

Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances had

invited nominations to recognize excellence and award Organisations

and Institutions which have implemented eGovernance initiatives in an

exemplary manner. Award was presented by Shri L.K. Advaniji during

the 7th National Conference on e-Governance on 13th November

2003 at Le Meridien, Chennai.

This is the official website of Government of Gujarat. Recently this website has

been given a new facelift. An attempt has been made to make the website

more user-friendly by categorizing the contents in to different sections. Some

The website has got many features which enables the citizens to have more

ü Feedback: It enables the citizens to give their valuable feedback and

suggestions regarding the Website contents and layout.

ü Guest Book: It enables the citizens to sign the Guest Book and thus

share their views with other citizens.

Regional Workshop on

“Mobilising Reform Champions & Cascading Change"

A regional Workshop on “Mobilising Reform Champions & Cascading Change”

was held on 30th October 2003 at Conference Room, Block 8, 9th Floor, New

Sachivalay. Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated the Workshop. Chief Secretary

and other secretaries from the state as well as invited dignitaries from other states

were also present. Shri K Jayakumar, Director, Administrative Reforms, Shri Vinay

Dharmadhikari, IT Secretary, Shri Rajesh Kishore, Secretary, Department of

Science & Technology and Shri H B Varia, MD GIL were amongst the panelists.

Shri Sanjay Singh, Secretary IT MP also participated in the event.

Shri Narendrabhai Modi gave a thought provoking speech on the occasion.

Hewitt Associates, a global outsourcing and management consultancy

delivered a presentation. In the post lunch session, four groups were formed.

They were given four topics to brainstorm upon. The topics were Mobilizing

Leadership, How to Leverage Change, Mobilizing Change in the State Sector and

Agents of Change & Mobilizing Reforms Process. One of the groups was headed

by Shri Keshav Kumar, ACP. After the discussions and deliberations, the entire

thoughts of the day were summarized by consultants from Hewitt. This would

serve as an input to the National Conference on eGovernance going to be held

in Chennai on 13-15th November.
