First with the aidAn advanced first aid course for personnel working on offshore and onshore wind farms has been developed by Maersk Training and wind turbine manufacturer MHI Vestas Offshore Wind.
The course builds on the skills acquired during basic first aid and aims to equip technicians with the skills required to quickly stabilise a casualty. It covers a range of practical skills, including advanced airway management techniques, control of catastrophic bleeding, CPR including the use of AEDs and administration of gases in medical emergencies, such as oxygen and Entonox. A specialist emergency trauma pack containing all of the lifesaving equipment used during the course is also available.
Breathe more easilyScott Safety has expanded its range of Proflow SC powered air purifying respirators with a higher air flowrate model to help minimise the respiratory burden on the wearer and ensure greater levels of comfort.
The Proflow 2 SC 160 provides a flow rate of 160l per minute and features an ergonomically-designed curved backplate and lightweight battery to help reduce the physical burden posed by breathing and the weight of the kit. Compatible with a wide range of Scott’s headtops, facemasks and filters, including PSL, A-PSL and ABEK-PSL filters, the respirator features electronic controls to maintain a comfortable airflow and automatically compensate for changes in filter resistance.
The right brand
JSP now offers a five-day turnaround for those ordering safety helmets with corporate branding, which it says is the fastest in the UK’s PPE market.
The Logo Express service enables customers to choose a helmet from JSP’s core range; select where they want their logo(s) placed; and email the necessary artwork to JSP. Colour proofs are then emailed for approval, and the branded helmets are delivered five days later.

Take 5 – CommunicationsSafe truckin’Transmon Engineering has updated its iTEch Control system for limiting the speed of forklift trucks, with the introduction of measures for reducing operational costs.
Designed to restrict a lift truck’s top travel speed, the iTEch Control system can be fitted to any type of forklift truck. To reduce fuel consumption, minimise servicing and reduce downtime, an idle shutdown feature has been added, the unit’s fitting time has been reduced, and the need to modify the trucks during installation has been overcome. Other upgrades include a new Motor Controller, which means the system can now be fitted to lift trucks with both ‘drive-by-wire’ electronic throttle control and traditional cable-operated throttles.
