Beach Handball is a new beach sport based on handball rules, popularmainly in European countries. At the 6th World Games, there will bemen's and women's beach handball events.

Better than beach volleyball? Beach Handball gained popularity in manyEuropean countries as a result of the influence of casual new sports such asbeach volleyball and beach soccer. Every country has its own BeachHandball rules. The rubber ball used in the game is easy to hold with onehand, and everybody can easily throw and feint throws. The court is madeof sand, of course. It is interesting that a good handball player is not alwaysa good Beach Handball player. The "in flight" throw is the most difficult wayto shoot in Beach Handball. A player catches and throws the ball in onemovement without touching the ground. A player can gain two points forscoring like this; three if the scorer is the goalkeeper. Spectators can enjoythe thrill of the in flight throws. It is a really fun game.

A coin toss determines the choice of ends. The game begins with areferee throw. After every goal that is scored, the game continues witha goalkeeper throw. During play, the goalkeeper is allowed to play inthe playing area along with the rest of the team. Running more than

three steps with the ball and double dribbling are illegal.Different throws score different points.

A goal scored with a jump throw or a step throw: one point Goal scoredfrom an "in flight" throw goalkeeper scores from the playing area: 2 points.Goal scored from a six meter throw: 2 points.Goal scored by goalkeeper's "in flight" throw: 3 points.The winner of each half is awarded one point. (One point is awarded even ifthe score result is 10- 0.) If the score is even at the end of a half, the"golden goal" method is applied. (The winner is determined by the nextgoal.) If the same team wins both halves, the team wins with the score 2-0.If each team wins a half, the result is a tie. The "player versus the

goalkeeper" method is applied to determine the winner. (A match is playedwith one player against the goalkeeper).
