Geneva Push is working towards unleashing a total of 84 assessed planters from various denominations by 2015. We want to ensure every church planter is sent out with a wise, experienced and committed coach to support them in the hard work of planting and growing healthy reproducing churches.

Give thanks to God for our volunteer coaches who generously sow into the lives of the next generation of church planters. Give thanks to God for John Warner (pictured below with his wife Geetha). We are thankful for his work within the Geneva Push network, energising and coordinating the expanding coaches’ network.

thirty-six Geneva Push supported churches have started across Australia in the last 3 years.

INSPIRE. RECRUITMENT OF CHURCH PLANTERS

Give thanks to God for the opportunity to gather and inspire 200+ people, for church planting in Australia, at our national conference Multiply13, December 2-4. Give thanks to God for the research into developing an Australian Church Planter Candidate Assessment tool, with Lifeway Research.

This research will enable better assessment of potential church planters by identifying the presence of effective characteristics for planting churches in Australia. This research will be presented later in the year at Multiply13.

EQUIP. TRAINING AND NURTURING

Give thanks to God for the variety of events that equip planters Australia wide.

We hosted 10 network events, across 6 states, covering a variety of relevant church planting topics.

In 2013 Geneva Push was able to expand the Refresh Marriage Retreat to serve planters on the West Coast of Australia. Refresh is our gift to church planting couples and designed to reenergise their passion for marriage and mission. 34 couples attended Refresh (East & West) in 2013.

In 2013, we launched The Planter Sessions. These monthly webinars facilitate online training for the busy or isolated church planter.

UNLEASH. CHURCHES ESTABLISHED

Give thanks to God for the growth in the network and in our church plants.

In 2013 the number of new Christians who have come to faith in the Lord Jesus makes up approximately 5.5% of the current attendance in the Geneva Push church plants.* An additional 13.5% of people in these churches are Australians who have returned to faith and now belong to a local church.*

That’s a total of 19% in these churches who weren’t part of a church this time 2 years ago. Praise God! *This data is based on a survey we conducted in October 2013 – involving 28 of our 36 church planters.

 Why plant churches?

One of the Geneva Push's founders, Al Stewart, regularly says "The question we really should ask is 'Why did we ever stop?' Every church in Australia began as a church plant."

As we ask ‘why did we stop’ we need to keep wrestling with the hard questions about why people aren't becoming disciples of Jesus in our existing churches and also see the great opportunity and potential that new churches have for intentionally reaching people with the gospel.

We believe new churches create new opportunities to effectively reach new people with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We invite you to join us to unleash the next generation of church planters.

In Christ

Scott Sanders General Manager
