ZOONOTIC DISEASE: CHALLENGES
• Increase of interconnection between human and animal
• Increasing risk of diseases in disadvantage areas
• Limitation of capacity at local level
• Limitation of resources
• Increase of interconnection between human and animal
• Easier wide spread diseases from animal to human/re-emerging diseases
• No immunity of people in community
• Occurrence of disease in remote and mountainous areas
• Delay in detection and reporting
• Difficulty in control of outbreak
• Behavior change
• Implementation at the grassroots level
• Low awareness
• Unwell trained staff
• Lack of staff
• Limitation of resources
• Responding VS prevention
• Research
• Implement new activities

Infectious Specimen
BIOSAFETY&BIOSECURITY: ACHIEVEMENTS [2]
Technical development
• Biosafety training
• BSL3 laboratory in National Institutes and Central
Hospitals: PCR, Elisa, Genexpert, Confirm EIDs.
• Linkage with international laboratory: Nagasaki, Japan
and OUCRU (Oxford University Clinical Research Unit),
WHO CC…
BIOSAFETY&BIOSECURITY: CHALLENGES
• Limited implementation on biosecurity
• Low awareness of management staff on biosafety and
biosecurity
• No active in implementation of biosafety/biosecurity in laboratory
• Lack of national direction on implementation of Biosafety for
laboratory in Veterinary
• Lack of QA for Biosafety equipment

THE WAY FORWARD FOR ZDAP
International/regional level
1. Re-affirm commitment of the Government to international community
2. Conduct international workshops to update achievement and share information
3. Reinforce ZDAP network for sharing information of progress and lesson learnt
4. Encourage participation of all interested countries to participate ZDAP
5. More involvement and support from developed countries to other developing countries
6. Promote one health approach
7. Link IHR – PVS in training/workshop for human health staff and animal health staff
National level 1. Provide forum for technical staff of all stakeholders to share experience and information
2. Development joint technical guideline
3. Reinforce capacity for both human health staff and animal health staff especially animal health at grass root levels.
4. Map high risk area for priority investment
5. Balance between development and environment
6. Invest more resources in prevention
7. Strengthen cross-sector collaboration to investigate and response to outbreaks of zoonotic diseases
THE WAY FORWARD FOR BIOSAFETY & BIOSECURITY
International/regional level
1. Raising important of biosafety and biosecurity in international conference
2. Support of international agencies to developing countries to enhance biosafety and biosecurity
National level
1. Policy mobilization both biosafety and biosecurity
2. Direction from high level to promote biosafety and biosecurity
3. Invest more resources in biosafety and biosecurity
