Product Information Test Bench Measurement
Functions and BenefitsThe amplifiers are developed for the various sensorsin test benches of the automotive industry, machinemanufacturing and installation, research and develop-ment. They offer sensor excitation, isolation, signalconditioning, analog and/or digital data acquisitionwith highest precision. A CAN Interface unit serves for synchronous acquisi-tion of messages from CAN bus. These are availableon the internal bus and can be processed togetherwith the other measurement data by the acquisitionsoftware. Each unit has two independent CAN nodestransmitting 24 values in different formats at 16 biteach synchronously. They can be grouped in differentdata types. Both nodes can be switched together. Abus termination is switched in by the parameter set-ting software. A DIO plug-in unit is available for 8 digital input sig-nals (e.g. logical states) with an output of switchingsignals by relays. An extended version provides ac-quisition of signals from frequency generators and in-cremental encoders .The AO unit supplies adjustable voltages up to±10 V .
All standard 19“ chassis are laid out for either mobile(DC supply 9 - 36 V) or stationary use (AC supply 110- 230 V). They have an Ethernet interface for data ac-quisition and parameter setting, as well as a CANsocket for access to a CAN bus. Parameter setting ofthe amplifiers can also be done via a serial (RS 232 /RS 485) interface. Several chassis can be interlinkedsynchronously by the Ethernet interface to up to 600channels. There are 2 to 16 amplifier bays availablefor both systems in one 19“ desktop-housing or 84 Urack. Especially designed for distributed applications and/ora few channels, the SIQUAD line offers compact mod-ules and miniature systems with 1, 2 or 3 amplifierunits, as well as 1- or 2-channel DIN-rail modules.
Data acquisition can be simply done already via theCAN interface with a suitable data logger. Via the Eth-ernet interface comfortable data acquisition and on-line visualization of measurement data can be per-formed PC-based with DAQSoft. Drivers for othermeasurement software like DASYLab and LabVIEWare optional available.

RemarksWith an amplifier you can perform power measurements on single phase power. In order to carry out performance measurements on a three-phase system, you need 3 amplifiers (one per phase). The overall result can then be calculated online in the data acquisition software (eg with DAQSoft). Output of calculated values will start after the first fully acquired pe-riod of the input signal.

SIQUAD DIO-8CharacteristicsThe SIQUAD DIO-8 Plug-in Unit offers computer-con-trolled signal conditioning of up to 8 digital input signalsand drives 8 relay outputs. The inputs are insulated by op-tocouplers. The relay outputs can be configured per chan-nel by jumpers to make or break. Front panel LEDs indi-cates switching states of inputs and outputs.

Central UnitCharacteristicsThe Central Unit is the interface between the internalhigh-speed bus, the Ethernet connection, an RS 232 inter-face, and the internal RS 485 bus. It is a plug-in unit forthe housing and provides the clock for the amplifiers aswell as external clocking and synchronization for additionalhousings resp. chassis. External trigger signals are alsoadministered by the central unit. A remote control can beconnected via the remote interface. Parameter setting of the ampli-fiers is done with the software DaSoft via the Ethernet or RS 232interface of the central unit.

Parameter SettingSoftwareCharacteristicsThe Parameter Setting Software DaSoft allows configuration of asystem and its communication interfaces for individual setting up ofthe amplifiers and add-on units.
Sensor data can be stored in a sensor database for automatic sys-tem configuration. Integration into a customer-specific parametersetting software is possible via a communication DLL.The following settings are done with DaSoft:
• Type of sensor, measurement ranges, sensor excitation andfurther options for the functionality of the amplifiers.
• Sample rate 1 Hz to 40 kHz (depending on amplifier type),sensor range (nominal value), and physical unit.
DaSoft provides the system settings and generates an interface file“DDL.int“ with the necessary specifications for data acquisition. Thedata acquisition software (DAQSoft or others with correspondingdrivers) takes this information of the “DDL.int“. The file is alwaysupdated with actual data after each communication of DaSoft withthe measurement system. If changes were done in the system withDaSoft, it will be automatically recognized by the acquisition soft-ware. Therefore it is not possible to measure with wrong parame-ters.

Data AcquisitionSoftwareCharacteristicsThe Measurement Software DAQSoft offers acquisition and visu-alization of data for DASIM and SIQUAD systems. First parametersof the amplifiers are set with DaSoft. DaSoft provides the systemsettings and generates an interface file “DDL.int“ with the neces-sary specifications for data acquisition. DAQSoft takes this informa-tion of the “DDL.int“ automatically. The file is always updated withactual data after each communication of DaSoft with the measure-ment system. An extensive functional library “DataEngine.dll“ is available for inte-grating the systems into an own data acquisition software or envi-ronment. It transmits triggers and measurement data, and receivesthe other way parameters for the central unit like sample rates, trig-ger conditions and information about the selected channels
DaSoft and DAQSoft are running under Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit). DAQSoft also needs a .NET envi-ronment. For acquisition with high sample rate and therefore largeamount of data, a computer starting with Dual-Core processor (orcomparable) and 2.5 GHz, 4 GB RAM, and fast hard disk is recom-mended.
