Matthew 26:36-46Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called
Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." He took Peter and the two sons of
Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed
with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me." Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into
temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may
your will be done."
2 Corinthians 1:8-9We do not want you to be uninformed,
brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We
were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we
despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the
sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on
ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.

Romans 8:3-4For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the
sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful
man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man,
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him
we might become the righteousness of God.
1 Peter 2:24He himself bore our sins in his
body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for
righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Galatians 3:13Christ redeemed us from the
curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for
it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a
tree.

1 Peter 3:18-20 He was put to death in the body but made alive by the
Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the
spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell

Hebrews 2:9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honour because he suffered death , so that
by the grace of God he might taste death for
everyone.
Hebrews 2:14-16Since the children have flesh and blood, he too
shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the
power of death — that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in
slavery by their fear of death.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who
with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being
transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which
comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
