The GeoPump™ is operated by compressed air and features an internal float which automatically controls thepump itself and regulates the liquid level. No other liquid level control is required. The GeoPump™ only worksand uses compressed air when it is full of liquid thus minimising and conserving energy.

Fill Cycle Pump starts to fill

The inlet non-return valveopens, allowing fluid to enterthe pump.As the fluid level in thepump rises, the internal floatrises to the top of its stroke.In this upper position, thefloat actuates a leverassembly to open the airinlet valve, and compressedair enters the pumpchamber.

Note: No air is used duringthe fill cycle.

Empty cyclePump starts to empty

The air pressure within thepump chamber causes thefluid inlet valve to close. Thefluid is then displaced fromthe pump chamber upthrough the discharge pipe.As the fluid level in thepump is lowered the floatactuates the lever to closethe air supply and open theair exhaust valve. A newcycle begins.

PUMPING CAPACITYAs liquid enters the GeoPump™under gravity and exits under thepressure of compressed air theperformance of the GeoPump™ isdependent on several factors,including:

n Depth of liquid abovepump inlet (submergence)n Operating air pressuren Internal diameter of hoses n Total dynamic head

PRESSUREThe pressure required will dependon the total dyn amic head of thesystem. It is recommended it be setat the calculated maximum airpressure plus 1 bar.

VOLUMEThe amount of air required for theGeoPump™ depends on thevolume of liquid being pumped.This is determined by the totaldynamic head of the system. If the liquid level above the pump

inlet is reduced the pump will fillslower and therefore flow will bereduced. Air requirement willtherefore also be reduced. To size the correct compressor forany installation it is recommendedthat it be sized for the maximum airrequirement.Should the flow be reduced due todrawdown within the well then theactual air requirement will decreasewhich will save on energy or allowadditional pumps to be added tothe same compressor.

TUBING HOSES & FITTINGS

A complete range of chemical and abrasion resistant hoses, tubing and fittings areavailable to provide a complete pumping package.

Materials include polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, nylon, stainless steel and brass.

All sizes are metric and/or Imperial to ensure compatibility worldwide.

The choice of tubing and hoses will depend on each individual application and it isimportant that correct ones are used to ensure maximum safety and optimumperformance of the GeoPump™. If in doubt, please contact Geosense for advice.

CYCLE COUNTERProvides an automatic detection of each pumpcycle which is registered on a six digit counter.Flow rates and total quantity of liquid can thereforebe quantified. Manufactured from 316 stainless steel it is highlyresistant to compressed air condensate andexternal corrosion.
