Three Teachers Earn Tenure!Congratulations to three highly talented and caring teachers! Katie Lanza, Michelle Smart, and Liz Westgate received Tenure at the September 10 CUSD Board Meeting! We arefortunate to have them at Garden Gate!

Back To School Night: A Big Success!Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Back to School Night presentations onAugust 29. I hope you found the presentations informative and you enjoyed meetingyour childs teacher(s). Mr. Wright and I walked around and were, as always, impressedwith the high percentage of participation! I am always proud to work here at Garden Gatewhen I see our teachers in action.

No School on September 20Due to a Staff Learning Day, students will not attend school on Friday, September 20. Teachers and staff will receiveprofessional development and will engage in collaborative work. Enjoy a three-day weekend!

Dismissal TimeParents, please remember the designated area on campus where we'd like you to wait for your 4th or 5th grade student to bereleased from class: The "snack tables" in front of the Caf window. Please do not wait in the hallways, as low noise such asconversation, can be disruptive to classes still in session. Similarly, for safety and security reasons, children are not permittedplay on the play structures or the blacktop areas after school. Instead, please have your children wait, seated with you. TheGarden Gate Staff appreciates your support with maintaining our learning environment and keeping students safe.

Traffic and Parking LotStudent safety is our first priority. Follow these simple rules to ensure student safety:

Always drop off along the curb. Do not allow your child to exit thcar in the parking lot alone and attempt to walk across the lot.

The curb is a "no parking anytime" zone. Drivers must remain in

their vehicles. Drivers who leave their vehicles unattended couldbe ticketed by the Sheriff's Department. Always cross at a cross walk. Hold your child's hand and teach

your child to always look both ways. Avoid getting stuck in traffic. Leave home earlier to make sure yo

child arrives at school on time. Students may be on campusbeginning at 7:45 a.m.

Never use your cell phone while driving this includes insidethe Garden Gate parking lot.

PropellersDo you wonder how to connect better with your children? Do you wonder what matters to them, and how you can assist themgrow up to be healthy, caring and responsible citizens? I encourage you to try a "propeller" - a question intended to sparkconversations with your children. Try it around the dinner table tonight! This week's Propeller:

    - What is your favorite way to spend time together as a family?
