The event will focus on teaching students the implications of being honest along with strategies for being trustworthy. Congratulations to Juliet Homewood who created the artwork for this event (see pg. 3) Everyone is asked to wear BLUE as part of this celebration. We are all looking forward to STEAM Night on Wednesday. STEAM Night Magic Show tickets are being sent home with students who ordered online -- one envelope per family. Reminder to all incoming 3rd grade parents: The State of CT requires all 3rd graders have a physical exam completed by their pediatrician. The blue HAR forms were sent home in March. To be acceptable the physical has to be performed after during or after Jan. of 2nd grade year and preferably before the end of Dec. of 3rd grade year. Please return to the Nurse Leslie when complete. I have seen the Stress/Fidget Spinners become the latest thing for kids. While there is nothing wrong with these as they are billed as stress relievers in reality at school they are being used as a toy. As of May 8th all spinners are off limits at school. They will be taken and returned to the child at the end of the day to take and leave home. Thank you for your support as they are a distraction and it is obvious that we are on the eve of distraction. Gene FROM THE AMBASSADORS Cos Cob School is trying to raise money for CHAMPS. In case, you were wondering what CHAMPS is, it is a program that trains dogs to detect mines in countries all around the world. They help to keep the people living in those countries safe. BUT it costs a lot of money to train mine detection dogs, so we want to help! To raise money, our school is going to have a coin drive. The CCS Ambassadors are going to help run it but we need the whole school’s participation. Here’s how it will work: Each grade level is going to be assigned a color cup. Every day or as often as you can, you will bring your coins to school and place them in the cup. At the end of each day, two students from your class will deliver the cup to the Learning Commons where an Ambassador will greet them. We will count the money each week and give a total to the school during morning announcements on Fridays about how much money each grade level has raised so far and who is in the lead. The goal is to raise as much money as possible for CHAMPS as a school. We will end the coin drive on May 31st. There is a CATCH! If there is a grade level that is in the lead, other grade levels can bring in dollars or higher bills to put in that grade level’s jar. This will actually take away money from that grade level’s jar. For example: Say 4th grade is in the lead with $100 in coins and first grade has $90. 1st grade can put a $5 bill in 4th grade’s jar and now 4th grade has $95. BUT it will add $5 to 1st grade’s total making 1st grade have $95. The more bills you put in the more money you take away from other grade levels and the more you add to your total! In addition to collecting coins in the school, we will also have a table at The May Fair. Please stop by and see us there! Melissa Marchetti & Sofia Dubaz, Ambassador Coordinators
