I urge you to finalize those clean car standards as soon as possible. We have a long way to go to make Delaware's air clean. In a recent report, the American Lung Association awarded air quality in Delaware's three counties two F's (New Castle and Sussex) and one D (Kent) due to the frequency of high ozone days. The proposed standards will reduce smog-forming pollution from our passenger cars and trucks by 75 percent, preventing premature deaths, reducing asthma attacks and giving Delawareans cleaner air to breathe. Further, I urge you to adopt policies that will increase the number of plug-in electric vehicles in Delaware, particularly the Zero Emission Vehicle program. Increasing electric vehicle options can help Delaware reduce our dependence on oil and combat climate change. Once again, thank you for proposing clean car standards that will make our air cleaner to breathe. I urge you to finalize these standards as soon as possible.
