Participant Centered Services: Try using the following language when working with parents or guardians of children. "Your Child looks like the picture of health- but sometimes looks

can be deceiving. Are there any health concerns you have for (child's name)?

Customer Service: Consider adding signs in your waiting room that state "If you have been

waiting for more than 15 minutes beyond your scheduled appointment time without explanation, please check back in." People don't mind waiting as

much when they have an explanation and when they know they aren't and won't be forgotten!

THE SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM FOR

WOMEN, INFANTS & CHILDREN (WIC) PROGRAM

West Central Community Action seeks a Program Coordinator for an eight-county

WIC Program.

Duties of this position include grant/program administration, clinic scheduling,

staff supervision, managing client/community services, and providing direct

services as needed. The WIC Coordinator will maintain relationships with county

health departments and other local public and/or private health providers.

Must be currently licensed as a Registered Dietitian (LD/RD, Registered Nurse

(BSN), or Licensed Social Worker (LBSW) in the State of Iowa. Three years' of

supervisory, program administration, management experience, travel, valid driver's

license and auto liability insurance is required. Public health experience is

preferred.

This is a Harlan-based, full-time position with a minimum annual salary of $49,920.

Benefits include: Health, dental and life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick

pay, IPERS and 403(b) retirement programs.

From the WIC Policy and Procedure Manual – Services 300.10 Contact Agency Personnel Training

New Employee Training Course The NETC is a two-day course offered approximately every other month.

The course provides basic program operation information through discussion and interactive activities. Trainees must attend the following sessions:

All Staff AND Health Professional (CPAs, non-CPA Professionals) OR

Support Staff

The All staff session will help build a common knowledge base about

program operations while emphasizing the team approach. The Health Professional and Support Staff sessions will focus on the employee’s clinic

responsibility with a focus on position-specific tasks. All personnel who work at least 20 percent of full time for WIC must attend

both days of the WIC New Employee Training Course (NETC) within the first six months of employment.

All personnel who have access to the WIC data system, those with

scheduler-only access, and those working less than 20% of full-time for WIC, are required to attend one day of NETC, the session for all new staff *.

by other WIC staff, such as staff who have been previous WIC employees.

*All CPAs are required to attend both days regardless of their FTE status. Staff must register for NETC on the WIC Web Portal website at

https://idph.iowa.gov/WIC-Portal/Training-Personnel.

Before attending the course, each employee must: Complete the agency’s orientation program; Accompany and observe at least one family unit during a WIC certification

appointment, including all encounters with clinic staff; Observe and work alongside a co-worker with the same or similar job

responsibilities for at least one clinic; View the new participant media program (see Policy 215.85); Receive a security token and complete the data system homework within

the training environment; and Complete the NETC homework.

Fiscal Integrity

200.430 Incentive compensation.

Incentive compensation to employees based on cost reduction, or efficient performance, suggestion awards, safety awards, etc., is allowable to the

extent that the overall compensation is determined to be reasonable and such costs are paid or accrued pursuant to an agreement entered into in

good faith between the non-Federal entity and the employees before the services were rendered, or pursuant to an established plan followed by

the non-Federal entity so consistently as to imply, in effect, an agreement to make such payment.

Note: Agencies could not award bonuses or incentive compensation to program staff unless stipulated in an agreement prior to the start of

service. The decision to award an incentive cannot be based on an agency having unused funding remaining at the end of the contract period.
