We are so proud of the huge numbers of students – far more than almost any other state school – that participate at all levels of DofE and I am thrilled that next week three members of our staff, Mrs Brice who has overseen the programme at Rosebery for many years and given up countless weekends and holidays as a result, Miss Ramsay who supports every expedition and Miss Hill, who will be receiving her Gold Award that she achieved as a student with us, have been invited to Buckingham Palace in recognition of their sterling contribution to this fantastic programme and to see our latest cohort receive their Gold Award. Many of our other students have demonstrated their excellent leadership skills this week. I am also delighted that our Year 9 Drama groups have had very successful visits to Cuddington Croft and Stamford Green primary schools this week where they ran workshops for Year 6 students as part of our transition work. Year 9 students have also been involved in our Rosebery (Students as Researchers) STARs project and they presented very powerfully to Mrs Ayers, Dr Duff and Mrs Barnsley from our Governing Body this week about their school improvement ideas. Finally, huge congratulations to our U-15 athletes who won District Athletics last week – our first championship for 30 years! Road Safety Can I make another plea for parents not to use White Horse Drive or the hospital grounds to drop off your daughter at school? We have received a number of complaints about blocked driveways and the inappropriate use of private roads. We are also concerned that students continue to cross the A24 away from the pelican crossing and seem oblivious to the oncoming traffic, partly as a result of their earphones. We are desperate to avoid an accident. Please help us reinforce road safety messages to your daughter. The Great Get Together: 16 June 2017 We place great emphasis on our community ethos and how we seek to celebrate what we have in common and to understand those things that divide us. Just over a year ago the MP, Jo Cox, was senselessly killed in her constituency. Jo achieved an enormous amount in her short life; she campaigned tirelessly for women who have been victims of domestic violence; she sought to secure better care for young people who struggle with mental health issues and she worked hard to ensure refugee children were granted safety and security. Since her murder, her husband has launched the Jo Cox Foundation and over the weekend of 16 to 18 June they are encouraging communities to participate in the Great Get Together, a celebration of the values that Jo Cox espoused of kindness and compassion. So on 16 June we will be holding our Great Get Together at lunchtime. We encourage all students to bring a picnic, some games and our Sixth Form leaders will be organising a number of activities to bring us all together to remember Jo Cox, but also to celebrate our very special community. Have a lovely weekend. Ros Allen @RoseberyHT

Elena explained:

"In my piece I wanted to portray my favourite things, so I drew myself thinking about not my hobbies, but the things

not many people would have thought of; such as my favourite colour (yellow), stars, planets, music and flowers."

A Level Art exams are underway and some astonishing talent is evident. Also the A Level photographers have equally outshone themselves.

We would also like to congratulate our inspirational and highly skilled GCSE artists who completed their Exam Unit outcomes last week. We can’t wait to exhibit them all later in the term and are extremely proud of every single student.
